  1. १

Great Heaven and Earth, be wide for us; like two young women, you two world-halves, be our seat. With those helpers protect us from the one who overpowers; with these protect us in our strength.

  2. २

At every yajna that mortal honours the gods who seeks to win them with his kind thoughts, a man heard far and wide.

  3. ३

You who rule over all are the great treasure of the gods. For all of you have greatness over everything; all of you are worthy of worship at the yajnas.

  4. ४

They are the kings, gladdening givers of immortality: Aryaman, Mitra, Varuna who travels all around. And what of Rudra, praised by men, the Maruts, Pushan, Bhaga?

  5. ५

And for us at night, Sun and Moon, the two bulls rich in the waters' goods, come as partners to the seat, when Ahi Budhnya, the Serpent of the Deep, is to be seated with them in the depths.

  6. ६

And may the two gods, the Ashvins, lords of beauty, and Mitra and Varuna with their powers protect us. That man speeds to great wealth, past dangers as if across a desert.

  7. ७

And may the two Rudras, the Ashvins, be kind to us; and the All-Gods, Bhaga lord of the chariot, Ribhu, Vaja, the Ribhukshans, the one who travels all around, the all-knowing ones.

  8. ८

Ribhu is Ribhukshan; Ribhu is the exhilaration of the worshipper; your two prize-winning fallow horses are here, you who speed onward. Hard to surpass is he whose chant is apart, like a sacrifice that is not merely human.

  9. ९

Make us bold, god Savitar; he is praised among the generous patrons. Indra, with his draft-horses, gives us strength, he who guides the wheel of these peoples as if by a rein.

Heaven and Earth, place among these, among us and our heroes, great fame that reaches all peoples, nourishment for winning the prize, nourishment of wealth, and for overcoming.

Indra, you who wish us well, powerful one, take up this praise for help, from one who is wherever he may be. Always protect us for help, good one, knowing those who grow fat.

Men have made this praise of mine grow, like the rays stretched out in the sun, its course shining: a means of winning, like a team of horses, firm like something a carpenter has shaped.

Those whose golden chariot has turned, yoked, toward wealth: their manly powers are not like a battle's placement, but spread out to their ends, as if with ease.

I have proclaimed this before Duhshima Prithavana, before Vena, before Rama the lord, among the bountiful patrons, who yoked five hundred for us, well disposed; their gift was made famous along the way.

And here besides they gave seventy-seven more. At once Tanva assigned them; at once Parthya assigned them; at once Mayava assigned them.
