सर्वत्र शान्ति की प्रार्थनाPrayer for peace everywhere

शान्ता द्यौः शान्ता पृथिवी शान्तम् इदम् उर्व् अ᳙न्तरिक्षम् ।शान्ता उदन्वतीर् आपः शान्ता नः सन्त्व् ओषधीः

द्यौ शान्त हो, पृथिवी शान्त हो, यह विस्तृत अन्तरिक्ष शान्त हो। लहराते जल शान्त हों, और औषधियाँ हमारे लिए शान्त हों।

May the sky be at peace, the earth at peace, and this wide middle air at peace. May the surging waters be at peace, and may the plants be at peace for us.

शान्तानि पूर्वरूपाणि शान्तं नो अस्तु कृताकृतम् ।शान्तं भूतं च भव्यं च सर्वम् एव शम् अस्तु नः

पूर्व-लक्षण (शकुन) शान्त हों, हमारा किया और न किया शान्त हो। भूत और भविष्य शान्त हों, सब कुछ हमारे लिए कल्याणकारी हो।

May the warning signs be at peace, and may what we have done and left undone be at peace. May past and future be at peace; may everything be well for us.

इयं या परमेष्ठिनी वाग् देवी ब्रह्मसंशिता ।ययैव ससृजे घोरं तयैव शान्तिर् अस्तु नः

यह जो परम स्थान पर स्थित, ब्रह्म (मन्त्र-शक्ति) से तीक्ष्ण की गई देवी वाक् है — जिससे घोर (अनिष्ट) उत्पन्न किया गया, उसी से हमें शान्ति मिले।

This goddess Vac, who stands highest and is sharpened by sacred speech: by the very power that let loose what is terrible, by that same power may we have peace.

इदं यत् परमेष्ठिनं मनो वां ब्रह्मसंशितम् ।येनैव ससृजे घोरं तेनैव शान्तिर् अस्तु नः

यह जो परम स्थान पर स्थित, ब्रह्म से तीक्ष्ण किया गया तुम दोनों का मन है — जिससे घोर उत्पन्न किया गया, उसी से हमें शान्ति मिले।

This mind of you two, which stands highest and is sharpened by sacred speech: by the very mind that let loose what is terrible, by that same mind may we have peace.

इमानि यानि पञ्चेन्द्रियानि मनःषष्ठानि मे हृदि ब्रह्मणा संशितानि ।यैर् एव ससृजे घोरं तैर् एव शान्तिर् अस्तु नः

ये जो मेरे हृदय में मन को छठा मानकर पाँच इन्द्रियाँ हैं, ब्रह्म से तीक्ष्ण की गई — जिनसे घोर उत्पन्न किया गया, उन्हीं से हमें शान्ति मिले।

These five senses, with mind as the sixth, which are in my heart and sharpened by sacred speech: by the very senses that let loose what is terrible, by those same senses may we have peace.

शं नो मित्रः शं वरुणः शं विष्णुः शं प्रजापतिः ।शं न इन्द्रो ब्ŕ̥हस्पतिः शं नो भवत्व् अर्यमा

मित्र हमारे लिए कल्याणकारी हों, वरुण, विष्णु और प्रजापति कल्याणकारी हों। इन्द्र और बृहस्पति हमारे लिए कल्याणकारी हों, अर्यमा हमारे लिए कल्याणकारी हों।

May Mitra be good to us, and Varuna, Vishnu and Prajapati. May Indra and Brihaspati be good to us, and may Aryaman be good to us.

शं नो मित्रः शं वरुणः शं विवस्वां छम् अन्तकः ।उत्पाताः पार्थिवान्तरिक्षाः शं नो दिविचरा ग्रहाः

मित्र, वरुण, विवस्वान् और अन्तक (मृत्यु) हमारे लिए कल्याणकारी हों। पृथ्वी और अन्तरिक्ष के उत्पात (अपशकुन) तथा आकाश में चलने वाले ग्रह हमारे लिए कल्याणकारी हों।

May Mitra, Varuna, Vivasvant and Antaka, the Ender, be good to us. May the portents on earth and in the middle air, and the grahas (planets) that move in the sky, be good to us.

शं नो भूमिर् वेप्यमाना शम् उल्का निर्हतं च यत् ।शं गावो लोहितक्षीराः शं भूमिर् अव तीर्यतीः

काँपती भूमि हमारे लिए कल्याणकारी हो, उल्का और जो कुछ (उससे) गिराया गया वह कल्याणकारी हो। लाल दूध देने वाली गायें कल्याणकारी हों, धँसती भूमि कल्याणकारी हो।

May the earth be good to us when it quakes, and so may the meteor and whatever it strikes down. May cows that give red milk be good to us, and the earth when it sinks away.

नक्षत्रम् उल्काभिहतं शम् अस्तु नः शं नो ऽभिचाराः शम् उ सन्तु कृत्याः ।शं नो निखाता वल्गाः शम् उल्का देशोपसर्गाः शम् उ नो भवन्तु

उल्का से आहत नक्षत्र हमारे लिए कल्याणकारी हो, अभिचार और कृत्याएँ कल्याणकारी हों। गाड़े गए वल्ग (गुप्त टोने), उल्काएँ और देश पर आने वाली विपत्तियाँ हमारे लिए कल्याणकारी हों।

May the star struck by a meteor be good to us. May hostile spells and kṛtyās (sorcery-figures) be good to us, and may buried valgas (hidden spell-objects), meteors and calamities that fall on the land be good to us.

शं नो ग्रहाश् चान्द्रमसाः शम् आदित्यश् च राहुणा ।शं नो मृत्युर् धूमकेतुः शं रुद्रास् तिग्मतेजसः

चन्द्रमा के ग्रह (चन्द्रग्रहण) हमारे लिए कल्याणकारी हों, राहु के साथ आदित्य कल्याणकारी हो। मृत्यु, धूमकेतु और तीक्ष्ण तेज वाले रुद्र हमारे लिए कल्याणकारी हों।

May the seizers of the moon be good to us, and Aditya together with Rahu. May death and the comet be good to us, and the Rudras of piercing brilliance.

शं रुद्राः शं वसवः शम् आदित्याः शम् अग्नयः ।शं नो महर्षयो देवाः शं देवाः शं ब्ŕ̥हस्पतिः

रुद्र, वसु, आदित्य और अग्नियाँ कल्याणकारी हों। महर्षि देव हमारे लिए कल्याणकारी हों, देव कल्याणकारी हों, बृहस्पति कल्याणकारी हों।

May the Rudras, the Vasus, the Adityas and the fires be good to us. May the divine great seers be good to us, may the gods be good to us, and may Brihaspati be good to us.

ब्रह्म प्रजापतिर् धाता लोका वेदाः सप्तऋषयो ऽग्नयः ।तैर् मे कृतं स्वस्त्ययनम् इन्द्रो मे शर्म यछतु ब्रह्मा मे शर्म यछतु ।विश्वे मे देवाः शर्म यछन्तु सर्वे मे देवाः शर्म यछन्तु

ब्रह्म, प्रजापति, धाता, लोक, वेद, सप्तर्षि और अग्नियाँ — इन्होंने मेरे लिए स्वस्त्ययन (कल्याण का मार्ग) किया है। इन्द्र मुझे शरण दें, ब्रह्मा मुझे शरण दें, विश्वेदेव और सभी देव मुझे शरण दें।

Brahman, Prajapati, Dhatar, the worlds, the Vedas, the seven seers and the fires have made a path of well-being for me. May Indra give me shelter, may Brahma give me shelter; may the All-Gods, may all the gods, give me shelter.

यानि कानि चिच् छान्तानि लोके सप्तऋषयो विदुः ।सर्वाणि शं भवन्तु मे शं मे अस्त्व् अभयं मे अस्तु

संसार में जो भी शान्ति-कारक (उपाय) सप्तर्षि जानते हैं, वे सब मेरे लिए कल्याणकारी हों। मेरा कल्याण हो, मुझे अभय हो।

Whatever means of peace the seven seers know in the world, may they all be good for me. May I have well-being; may I have freedom from fear.

पृथिवी शान्तिर् अन्तरिक्षं शान्तिर् द्यौः शान्तिर् आपः शान्तिर् ओषधयः शान्तिर् वनस्पतयः शान्तिर् विश्वे मे देवाः शान्तिः सर्वे मे देवाः शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिः शान्तिभिः ।यद् इह घोरं यद् इह क्रूरं यद् इह पापं तच् छान्तं तच् छिवं सर्वम् एव शम् अस्तु नः

पृथिवी शान्ति है, अन्तरिक्ष शान्ति है, द्यौ, जल, औषधियाँ, वनस्पतियाँ शान्ति हैं; विश्वेदेव और सभी देव मेरे लिए शान्ति हैं — शान्ति, शान्ति, शान्तियों द्वारा। यहाँ जो घोर, जो क्रूर, जो पाप है, वह शान्त हो, वह शिव (मंगलमय) हो, सब कुछ हमारे लिए कल्याणकारी हो।

The earth is peace, the middle air is peace, the sky is peace; the waters, the plants and the trees are peace; the All-Gods and all the gods are peace for me. Peace, peace, through these peaces. Whatever here is terrible, cruel or evil, may it be calmed and made auspicious; may everything be well for us.
