अश्विनौ

क्व१॒॑ त्या व॒ल्गू पु॑रुहू॒ताद्य दू॒तो न स्तोमोऽ॑विद॒न्नम॑स्वान् ।आ यो अ॒र्वाङ्नास॑त्या व॒वर्त॒ प्रेष्ठा॒ ह्यस॑थो अस्य॒ मन्म॑न्

कहाँ हैं वे दोनों सुन्दर, बहुत पुकारे गए (अश्विन्)? आज नमस्कार से युक्त मेरा स्तोत्र दूत बनकर उन्हें कहाँ ढूँढ़ पाया? हे नासत्यो, वही स्तोत्र तुम्हें इधर हमारी ओर ले आया — क्योंकि इस स्तोता के चिन्तन में तुम ही सबसे प्रिय हो।

Where today has the praise-hymn, like a messenger bearing homage, found those two charming ones, much invoked: the hymn that has turned the Nasatyas toward us? For you two are dearest to this poet's thought.

अरं॑ मे गन्तं॒ हव॑नाया॒स्मै गृ॑णा॒ना यथा॒ पिबा॑थो॒ अन्धः॑ ।परि॑ ह॒ त्यद्व॒र्तिर्या॑थो रि॒षो न यत्परो॒ नान्त॑रस्तुतु॒र्यात्

मेरे इस आह्वान पर तुम दोनों तुरन्त आओ, और स्तुति किए जाते हुए सोमरस पिओ। तुम वही (रक्षक) परिक्रमा-यात्रा करते हो, हिंसक से दूर रहकर, जिसे न दूर का शत्रु पार कर सके और न पास का।

Come readily to this invocation of mine, being praised, so that you may drink the juice of the plant. Drive around on your circuit to guard us from harm, so that no enemy, far or near, may overpower us.

अका॑रि वा॒मन्ध॑सो॒ वरी॑म॒न्नस्ता॑रि ब॒र्हिः सु॑प्राय॒णत॑मम् ।उ॒त्ता॒नह॑स्तो युव॒युर्व॑व॒न्दा वां॒ नक्ष॑न्तो॒ अद्र॑य आञ्जन्

तुम दोनों के लिए सोमरस की विस्तृत तैयारी कर दी गई है, और अत्यन्त सुगम बर्हि (कुश) बिछा दिया गया है। हाथ ऊपर उठाए, तुम्हारा ही इच्छुक (यजमान) तुम्हें नमस्कार करता है, और पास आते हुए सोम-पत्थरों ने (सोम को) अभिषिक्त किया है।

A wide offering of the plant-juice has been prepared for you, and the ritual grass has been spread, very easy to approach. With hands raised up, longing for you, the priest has greeted you; the pressing-stones, reaching toward you, have anointed the soma.

ऊ॒र्ध्वो वा॑म॒ग्निर॑ध्व॒रेष्व॑स्था॒त्प्र रा॒तिरे॑ति जू॒र्णिनी॑ घृ॒ताची॑ ।प्र होता॑ गू॒र्तम॑ना उरा॒णोऽयु॑क्त॒ यो नास॑त्या॒ हवी॑मन्

तुम दोनों के यज्ञों में अग्नि ऊपर उठकर खड़ा हो गया है; जलती हुई, घी से भरी आहुति आगे बढ़ती है। प्रशंसनीय मन वाला, चुना हुआ होता आगे आया है, जो हे नासत्यो, आह्वान के समय (तुम्हारी सेवा में) तत्पर हुआ।

Agni has stood upright for you at the rites; the eager, ghee-filled offering goes forward. The hotar goes forth, his mind intent, ranging wide, the one who has harnessed himself to the invocation, O Nasatyas.

अधि॑ श्रि॒ये दु॑हि॒ता सूर्य॑स्य॒ रथं॑ तस्थौ पुरुभुजा श॒तोति॑म् ।प्र मा॒याभि॑र्मायिना भूत॒मत्र॒ नरा॑ नृतू॒ जनि॑मन्य॒ज्ञिया॑नाम्

हे बहुतों को भोग देने वालो, सूर्य की पुत्री शोभा पाने के लिए तुम्हारे सौ सहायताओं वाले रथ पर चढ़ी। हे मायावी, हे नेताओ, हे नर्तको, वहाँ तुम अपनी मायाओं से (सबसे) आगे रहे, यज्ञ के योग्य देवों के जन्म के अवसर पर।

For glory, the Sun's daughter mounted your chariot of a hundred aids, O you who bring much benefit. With your wondrous powers, masters of wonder, come to the fore here, you heroes, you dancers, at the birth of those worthy of worship.

यु॒वं श्री॒भिर्द॑र्श॒ताभि॑रा॒भिः शु॒भे पु॒ष्टिमू॑हथुः सू॒र्यायाः॑ ।प्र वां॒ वयो॒ वपु॒षेऽनु॑ पप्त॒न्नक्ष॒द्वाणी॒ सुष्टु॑ता धिष्ण्या वाम्

इन दर्शनीय शोभाओं के साथ तुम दोनों सूर्या की समृद्धि को शोभा के लिए (रथ पर) ले चले। तुम्हारे पक्षी-जैसे (घोड़े) तुम्हारे सुन्दर रूप के पीछे उड़ चले; हे धिष्ण्यो, सुन्दर स्तुति-वाणी तुम तक पहुँची।

With these splendours that are a sight to see, you brought prosperity to Sūryā for her beauty. Your birds flew after you, for your wondrous form; the well-made voice of praise has reached you, O worthy ones.

आ वां॒ वयोऽश्वा॑सो॒ वहि॑ष्ठा अ॒भि प्रयो॑ नासत्या वहन्तु ।प्र वां॒ रथो॒ मनो॑जवा असर्जी॒षः पृ॒क्ष इ॒षिधो॒ अनु॑ पू॒र्वीः

हे नासत्यो, तुम्हारे पक्षी-जैसे, श्रेष्ठ ढोने वाले घोड़े तुम्हें इस हविष्य तक ले आएँ। मन के वेग वाला तुम्हारा रथ छोड़ दिया गया है, बहुत-से अन्न, बल और (हमारी) प्रार्थनाओं के पीछे-पीछे।

May the birds, the horses best at drawing, carry you, O Nasatyas, toward the pleasing offering. Your chariot, swift as thought, has been sent out toward refreshment and food, toward the many libations.

पु॒रु हि वां॑ पुरुभुजा दे॒ष्णं धे॒नुं न॒ इषं॑ पिन्वत॒मस॑क्राम् ।स्तुत॑श्च वां माध्वी सुष्टु॒तिश्च॒ रसा॑श्च॒ ये वा॒मनु॑ रा॒तिमग्म॑न्

हे बहुतों को भोग देने वालो, तुम्हारा दान विपुल है; हमारे लिए अन्न रूपी उस दुधारू गाय को भर दो जो कभी सूखती न हो। हे मधुप्रिय अश्विनो, तुम्हारे लिए ये स्तुतियाँ, सुन्दर स्तोत्र और रस हैं, जो तुम्हारे दान के पीछे-पीछे चले आए।

For your giving is abundant, you who bring much benefit; make refreshment swell for us like a cow that does not stray. Praises are yours, O lovers of honey, and fine praise, and the streams that have come following your gift.

उ॒त म॑ ऋ॒ज्रे पुर॑यस्य र॒घ्वी सु॑मी॒ळ्हे श॒तं पे॑रु॒के च॑ प॒क्वा ।शा॒ण्डो दा॑द्धिर॒णिनः॒ स्मद्दि॑ष्टी॒न्दश॑ व॒शासो॑ अभि॒षाच॑ ऋ॒ष्वान्

और मुझे पुरय से दो तेज़ दौड़ने वाली लाल घोड़ियाँ मिलीं, सुमीळ्ह से सौ (गौएँ) और पेरुक से पका हुआ अन्न। शाण्ड ने सोने से सजे, साथ चलने वाले, ऊँचे दस वशा (पशु) दिए।

And to me were given two ruddy, swift mares belonging to Puraya, a hundred from Sumīḷha, and cooked food from Peruka. Śāṇḍa gave golden, well-equipped, lofty ones, ten docile attendants.

सं वां॑ श॒ता ना॑सत्या स॒हस्राश्वा॑नां पुरु॒पन्था॑ गि॒रे दा॑त् ।भ॒रद्वा॑जाय वीर॒ नू गि॒रे दा॑द्ध॒ता रक्षां॑सि पुरुदंससा स्युः

हे नासत्यो, तुम्हारे निमित्त पुरुपन्थ ने (इस) स्तोता को सैकड़ों और हज़ारों घोड़े दिए। हे वीर, भरद्वाज को उसकी स्तुति के बदले अभी दिया — हे बहुकर्मा अश्विनो, राक्षस मारे जाएँ।

For your sake, O Nasatyas, Purupanthā gave the singer hundreds and thousands of horses all at once; to Bharadvāja the singer, O heroes, he has now given them. Let the demons be struck down, O you of many wondrous deeds.

आ वां॑ सु॒म्ने वरि॑मन्सू॒रिभिः॑ ष्याम्

हे अश्विनो, तुम्हारी विस्तृत कृपा में मैं दानी यजमानों के साथ बना रहूँ।

May we, with our patrons, be within your favour, in its wide shelter.
