Let Indra, his own master, come here to drink and be exhilarated. Mighty, he speeds forward by his own nature and overpowers every hostile force with his boundless, great, bull-like strength.

Your chariot stands firm and your two fallow bay horses are easy to control; the vajra is held fast in your hand, lord of men. Come quickly here to us by a good path, king. Once you have drunk, we will increase your bull-like powers.

Let the strong, formidable horses that carry Indra, his companions in the revel, bring him here to us: the lord of men, formidable, vajra in his arm, the overpowering bull whose strength is real.

So you rush like a bull to the receptacle, toward the lord that clings to the wooden vat, the attentive one, the pillar of nourishment. Produce strength, gather it into yourself, so that you may be lord of the wise, for their increase.

Let good things come to us, since I have recited your praise. Come to the soma-presser's well-mixed offering. You are the master: sit here on this barhis. By established rule, your vessels cannot be violated.

The first invocations of the gods went out, each separately, and they performed glorious deeds that are hard to surpass. Those who could not climb aboard the ship of sacrifice, the wretched ones, sank down right where they were.

In just this way let the others, the ill-intentioned, fall back, those who have yoked horses that are hard to yoke. But those who go forward now will later be present at the giving, where many delights are properly laid out.

He held firm the moving, quaking mountains. Heaven roared, and he shook the mid-regions. He props apart the two bowls that come together. Having drunk of the bullish soma, in his exhilaration he recites hymns.

I hold out this well-made hook for you, maghavan, with which you will smash the hoof-smashers. At this soma-pressing let you feel at home. Now that the soma is pressed and the offering made, maghavan, take notice, you who have a share in it.

Through cows may we get past poverty, which is hard to get past, and through barley all hunger, much-invoked one. With the kings, may we be first to win riches by our own strength.

Let Bṛhaspati protect us from the malicious, from behind, from above, and from below. Let Indra protect us from the front and in the middle, a friend making wide space for his friends.
