इन्द्राग्नी

श्नथ॑द्वृ॒त्रमु॒त स॑नोति॒ वाज॒मिन्द्रा॒ यो अ॒ग्नी सहु॑री सप॒र्यात् ।इ॒र॒ज्यन्ता॑ वस॒व्य॑स्य॒ भूरेः॒ सह॑स्तमा॒ सह॑सा वाज॒यन्ता॑

जो मनुष्य उन दो बलशाली — इन्द्र और अग्नि — की सेवा करता है, वह वृत्र को चीर देता है और अन्न-बल जीत लेता है। ये दोनों विपुल धन के स्वामी हैं, सबसे अधिक बलवान हैं, और अपने बल से (भक्त को) शक्ति देते हैं।

Whoever honours Indra and Agni, the overpowering pair, will smash the obstacle and win the prize. They rule over abundant wealth, these two most powerful ones, who seek the prize through their power.

ता यो॑धिष्टम॒भि गा इ॑न्द्र नू॒नम॒पः स्व॑रु॒षसो॑ अग्न ऊ॒ळ्हाः ।दिशः॒ स्व॑रु॒षस॑ इन्द्र चि॒त्रा अ॒पो गा अ॑ग्ने युवसे नि॒युत्वा॑न्

हे इन्द्र, हे अग्नि, तुम दोनों ने लड़कर गायें, जल, सूर्यप्रकाश और छिपा ली गई उषाएँ निश्चय ही जीत लीं। हे इन्द्र, दिशाएँ, सूर्यप्रकाश और चमकती उषाएँ — और हे अग्नि, अपने नियुत् घोड़ों के साथ तुम जल और गायें अपने अधीन कर लेते हो।

Indra and Agni, you two fought for the cows, the waters, the sun and the dawns that had been carried off. Indra, you join the directions, the sun and the bright dawns; Agni, you join the waters and the cows, you who drive a team.

आ वृ॑त्रहणा वृत्र॒हभिः॒ शुष्मै॒रिन्द्र॑ या॒तं नमो॑भिरग्ने अ॒र्वाक् ।यु॒वं राधो॑भि॒रक॑वेभिरि॒न्द्राग्ने॑ अ॒स्मे भ॑वतमुत्त॒मेभिः॑

हे वृत्र को मारने वाले इन्द्र और अग्नि, वृत्रघाती बलों के साथ, हमारे नमस्कारों के साथ इधर आओ। तुम दोनों अपने उदार, श्रेष्ठतम दानों के साथ हमारे पास रहो।

Indra and Agni, slayers of Vṛtra, come here to us with your Vṛtra-slaying strength and with our homage. Be with us, Indra and Agni, with your highest gifts, which are never stingy.

ता हु॑वे॒ ययो॑रि॒दं प॒प्ने विश्वं॑ पु॒रा कृ॒तम् ।इ॒न्द्रा॒ग्नी न म॑र्धतः

मैं उन दोनों को बुलाता हूँ, जिनका यह सारा पहले किया हुआ कर्म है। इन्द्र और अग्नि (याचक की) उपेक्षा नहीं करते।

I call on the two whose every deed of old has been praised: Indra and Agni, who do not neglect us.

उ॒ग्रा वि॑घ॒निना॒ मृध॑ इन्द्रा॒ग्नी ह॑वामहे ।ता नो॑ मृळात ई॒दृशे॑

शत्रुओं को कुचल देने वाले उग्र इन्द्र और अग्नि को हम बुलाते हैं। वे दोनों हम जैसों पर कृपा करें।

We call on Indra and Agni, the fierce ones who strike down enemies. May they be gracious to us in a time like this.

ह॒तो वृ॒त्राण्यार्या॑ ह॒तो दासा॑नि॒ सत्प॑ती ।ह॒तो विश्वा॒ अप॒ द्विषः॑

हे सत्पुरुषों के स्वामियो, तुम दोनों आर्य शत्रुओं को मारते हो, दास शत्रुओं को मारते हो; सब द्वेष करने वालों को मारकर दूर हटाते हो।

These two true lords strike down the obstacles raised by Āryas; they strike down those raised by Dāsas; they strike away all hatreds.

इन्द्रा॑ग्नी यु॒वामि॒मे॒३ऽ॒॑भि स्तोमा॑ अनूषत ।पिब॑तं शम्भुवा सु॒तम्

हे इन्द्र और अग्नि, ये स्तोत्र तुम दोनों की ओर गूँज उठे हैं। हे सुख देने वालो, निचोड़ा हुआ सोम पियो।

Indra and Agni, these praise songs have cried out to you. Drink the pressed soma, you who bring wellbeing.

या वां॒ सन्ति॑ पुरु॒स्पृहो॑ नि॒युतो॑ दा॒शुषे॑ नरा ।इन्द्रा॑ग्नी॒ ताभि॒रा ग॑तम्

हे नेताओ, हविदाता के लिए तुम्हारे पास जो बहुतों को प्रिय नियुत् (घोड़ों की जोड़ियाँ) हैं — हे इन्द्र और अग्नि, उन्हीं के साथ यहाँ आओ।

Your teams, which many people long for, are there for the worshipper, you heroes. Indra and Agni, come with them.

ताभि॒रा ग॑च्छतं न॒रोपे॒दं सव॑नं सु॒तम् ।इन्द्रा॑ग्नी॒ सोम॑पीतये

हे नेताओ, उन्हीं घोड़ों के साथ इस निचोड़े हुए सवन तक आओ — हे इन्द्र और अग्नि, सोम पीने के लिए आओ।

Heroes, come with them to this pressing, to the pressed soma. Indra and Agni, come to drink the soma.

तमी॑ळिष्व॒ यो अ॒र्चिषा॒ वना॒ विश्वा॑ परि॒ष्वज॑त् ।कृ॒ष्णा कृ॒णोति॑ जि॒ह्वया॑

उसकी स्तुति करो जो अपनी ज्वाला से सब वनों को लपेट लेता है और अपनी जीभ से उन्हें काला कर देता है।

Praise the one who wraps all the forests in his flame and turns them black with his tongue.

य इ॒द्ध आ॒विवा॑सति सु॒म्नमिन्द्र॑स्य॒ मर्त्यः॑ ।द्यु॒म्नाय॑ सु॒तरा॑ अ॒पः

जो मनुष्य अग्नि के प्रज्वलित होने पर इन्द्र की कृपा पाने का यत्न करता है, उसके लिए जल सहज पार करने योग्य हो जाते हैं — वैभव की प्राप्ति के लिए।

Whatever mortal seeks Indra's favour once the fire is kindled, for his glory Indra makes the waters easy to cross.

ता नो॒ वाज॑वती॒रिष॑ आ॒शून्पि॑पृत॒मर्व॑तः ।इन्द्र॑म॒ग्निं च॒ वोळ्ह॑वे

वे दोनों हमें बलदायी अन्न और तेज़ दौड़ने वाले घोड़े भरपूर दें — ऐसे घोड़े जो इन्द्र और अग्नि को ढो सकें।

You two, fill us with nourishment rich in prizes, and with swift horses to carry Indra and Agni here.

उ॒भा वा॑मिन्द्राग्नी आहु॒वध्या॑ उ॒भा राध॑सः स॒ह मा॑द॒यध्यै॑ ।उ॒भा दा॒तारा॑वि॒षां र॑यी॒णामु॒भा वाज॑स्य सा॒तये॑ हुवे वाम्

हे इन्द्र और अग्नि, तुम दोनों ही बुलाने योग्य हो, तुम दोनों ही साथ मिलकर दान से प्रसन्न होने योग्य हो। तुम दोनों ही अन्न और धन के दाता हो — बल जीतने के लिए मैं तुम दोनों को बुलाता हूँ।

Indra and Agni, I call on you both, to invite you here and to delight you both together with a gift. You are both givers of nourishment and riches; I call on you both to win the prize.

आ नो॒ गव्ये॑भि॒रश्व्यै॑र्वस॒व्यै॒३॒॑रुप॑ गच्छतम् ।सखा॑यौ दे॒वौ स॒ख्याय॑ श॒म्भुवे॑न्द्रा॒ग्नी ता ह॑वामहे

गायों, घोड़ों और धन के साथ हमारे पास आओ। वे दोनों सखा देव, सुख देने वाले, मित्रता के लिए — उन्हीं इन्द्र और अग्नि को हम बुलाते हैं।

Come to us with cattle, horses and goods. We call on Indra and Agni, the two gods, our friends who bring wellbeing, for their friendship.

इन्द्रा॑ग्नी शृणु॒तं हवं॒ यज॑मानस्य सुन्व॒तः ।वी॒तं ह॒व्यान्या ग॑तं॒ पिब॑तं सो॒म्यं मधु॑

हे इन्द्र और अग्नि, सोम निचोड़ने वाले यजमान की पुकार सुनो। हविष्यों का सेवन करो, यहाँ आओ, और सोम का मधु पियो।

Indra and Agni, hear the call of the sacrificer who presses soma. Come, enjoy the offerings, and drink the honey of soma.
