सोमः

भ॒द्रं नो॒ अपि॑ वातय॒ मनो॒ दक्ष॑मु॒त क्रतु॑म् ।अधा॑ ते स॒ख्ये अन्ध॑सो॒ वि वो॒ मदे॒ रण॒न्गावो॒ न यव॑से॒ विव॑क्षसे

हमारी ओर कल्याणकारी मन, सामर्थ्य और संकल्प को बहा दे। हे अन्धस् (सोमरस), तेरी मित्रता में — तुम्हारे मद में — वे चरागाह में गौओं की तरह आनन्द मनाते हैं; तू बढ़ता जाता है।

Breathe into us a good mind, skill, and resolve. Then, in friendship with you, Soma juice, let them delight like cows in a pasture — in your exhilaration — you are growing strong.

हृ॒दि॒स्पृश॑स्त आसते॒ विश्वे॑षु सोम॒ धाम॑सु ।अधा॒ कामा॑ इ॒मे मम॒ वि वो॒ मदे॒ वि ति॑ष्ठन्ते वसू॒यवो॒ विव॑क्षसे

हे सोम, तेरे हृदय को छू लेने वाले (रस) सब स्थानों में बसे हुए हैं। और मेरी ये कामनाएँ — तुम्हारे मद में — धन चाहती हुई चारों ओर फैल जाती हैं; तू बढ़ता जाता है।

Things that touch the heart sit by you in all your domains, Soma. Then these desires of mine, seeking wealth, spread out — in your exhilaration — you are growing strong.

उ॒त व्र॒तानि॑ सोम ते॒ प्राहं मि॑नामि पा॒क्या॑ ।अधा॑ पि॒तेव॑ सू॒नवे॒ वि वो॒ मदे॑ मृ॒ळा नो॑ अ॒भि चि॑द्व॒धाद्विव॑क्षसे

हे सोम, अपनी नासमझी से मैं तेरे नियमों को तोड़ देता हूँ। फिर भी — तुम्हारे मद में — जैसे पिता पुत्र पर, तू हम पर दया कर और वध से भी हमें बचा; तू बढ़ता जाता है।

And if, Soma, in my simplicity I break your ordinances, then be gracious to us, like a father to his son, even against a deadly blow — in your exhilaration — you are growing strong.

समु॒ प्र य॑न्ति धी॒तयः॒ सर्गा॑सोऽव॒ताँ इ॑व ।क्रतुं॑ नः सोम जी॒वसे॒ वि वो॒ मदे॑ धा॒रया॑ चम॒साँ इ॑व॒ विव॑क्षसे

हमारी स्तुतियाँ कुओं से छोड़ी हुई धाराओं की तरह एक साथ आगे बहती हैं। हे सोम, जीने के लिए हमारे संकल्प को — तुम्हारे मद में — चमसों (सोम-पात्रों) की तरह थामे रख; तू बढ़ता जाता है।

Our insights go forth together, like streams to the wells. Soma, uphold our resolve so that we may live, as you fill the cups with your stream — in your exhilaration — you are growing strong.

तव॒ त्ये सो॑म॒ शक्ति॑भि॒र्निका॑मासो॒ व्यृ॑ण्विरे ।गृत्स॑स्य॒ धीरा॑स्त॒वसो॒ वि वो॒ मदे॑ व्र॒जं गोम॑न्तम॒श्विनं॒ विव॑क्षसे

हे सोम, तेरी शक्तियों से उन उत्सुक जनों ने — तुम्हारे मद में — गौओं और घोड़ों से भरा बाड़ा खोल लिया; वे तुझ चतुर और बलवान् के धीर (भक्त) हैं; तू बढ़ता जाता है।

Through your powers, Soma, these wise and eager ones have opened the pen full of cows and horses — yours, the clever and mighty one — in your exhilaration — you are growing strong.

प॒शुं नः॑ सोम रक्षसि पुरु॒त्रा विष्ठि॑तं॒ जग॑त् ।स॒माकृ॑णोषि जी॒वसे॒ वि वो॒ मदे॒ विश्वा॑ स॒म्पश्य॒न्भुव॑ना॒ विव॑क्षसे

हे सोम, तू हमारे पशुओं की और बहुत जगह फैले इस चर जगत् की रक्षा करता है। तू — तुम्हारे मद में — सबको जीवन के लिए जोड़ देता है, सब लोकों को देखते हुए; तू बढ़ता जाता है।

Soma, you guard our livestock and the living world spread out in many places. You gather it together so that it may live, watching over all beings — in your exhilaration — you are growing strong.

त्वं नः॑ सोम वि॒श्वतो॑ गो॒पा अदा॑भ्यो भव ।सेध॑ राज॒न्नप॒ स्रिधो॒ वि वो॒ मदे॒ मा नो॑ दुः॒शंस॑ ईशता॒ विव॑क्षसे

हे सोम, तू हमारा सब ओर से रक्षक बन, जिसे कोई छल न सके। हे राजन्, हानि पहुँचाने वालों को दूर हटा — तुम्हारे मद में — कोई दुर्वचन बोलने वाला हम पर अधिकार न पाए; तू बढ़ता जाता है।

Soma, be our protector on every side, one who cannot be deceived. Drive the scorners away, king; let no one who speaks ill rule over us — in your exhilaration — you are growing strong.

त्वं नः॑ सोम सु॒क्रतु॑र्वयो॒धेया॑य जागृहि ।क्षे॒त्र॒वित्त॑रो॒ मनु॑षो॒ वि वो॒ मदे॑ द्रु॒हो नः॑ पा॒ह्यंह॑सो॒ विव॑क्षसे

हे सोम, तू सुन्दर संकल्प वाला होकर हमें बल और आयु देने के लिए जागता रह। मनुष्य से अधिक क्षेत्र को जानने वाला तू — तुम्हारे मद में — हमें द्रोह और संकट से बचा; तू बढ़ता जाता है।

Soma, wise in purpose, stay awake to give us vigour. You know the land better than any man: protect us from treachery and distress — in your exhilaration — you are growing strong.

त्वं नो॑ वृत्रहन्त॒मेन्द्र॑स्येन्दो शि॒वः सखा॑ ।यत्सीं॒ हव॑न्ते समि॒थे वि वो॒ मदे॒ युध्य॑मानास्तो॒कसा॑तौ॒ विव॑क्षसे

हे इन्दु, तू हमारे लिए सबसे बड़ा वृत्रहन्ता और इन्द्र का कल्याणकारी मित्र है — जब युद्ध में लड़ने वाले सन्तान पाने के लिए — तुम्हारे मद में — उसे पुकारते हैं; तू बढ़ता जाता है।

अ॒यं घ॒ स तु॒रो मद॒ इन्द्र॑स्य वर्धत प्रि॒यः ।अ॒यं क॒क्षीव॑तो म॒हो वि वो॒ मदे॑ म॒तिं विप्र॑स्य वर्धय॒द्विव॑क्षसे

यही वह तीव्र मद है, इन्द्र का प्रिय, जो बढ़ा है। इसी ने — तुम्हारे मद में — महान् विप्र कक्षीवान् की मति को बढ़ाया; तू बढ़ता जाता है।

यह सोम दान देने वाले विप्र के लिए गौओं से भरे धन-पुरस्कार भेजता है। इसी ने सात (ऋषियों) को मनचाहा वर दिया — तुम्हारे मद में — और अन्धे तथा लंगड़े को पार उतारा; तू बढ़ता जाता है।
