इन्द्र:

आ नो॒ विश्वा॑सु॒ हव्य॒ इन्द्रः॑ स॒मत्सु॑ भूषतु ।उप॒ ब्रह्मा॑णि॒ सव॑नानि वृत्र॒हा प॑रम॒ज्या ऋची॑षमः

सब संग्रामों में बुलाने योग्य इन्द्र हमारे पास आकर उपस्थित हो — वह वृत्र को मारने वाला, सबसे ऊपर रहकर दबा देने वाला, स्तुतियों के योग्य, हमारी प्रार्थनाओं और सोम-सवनों के पास आए।

May Indra, who is called on in every battle, stand by us. May he come to our sacred formulations and our soma-pressings: the Vritra-slayer, supreme in power, the one who matches the chant.

त्वं दा॒ता प्र॑थ॒मो राध॑साम॒स्यसि॑ स॒त्य ई॑शान॒कृत् ।तु॒वि॒द्यु॒म्नस्य॒ युज्या वृ॑णीमहे पु॒त्रस्य॒ शव॑सो म॒हः

तू दानों का पहला देने वाला है, तू सत्य है और (अपने भक्त को) स्वामी बना देने वाला है। बहुत तेजस्वी, बल के महान् पुत्र (इन्द्र) की मित्रता हम चुनते हैं।

You are the foremost giver of bounties. You are real, and you make men into lords. We choose the partnership of this very brilliant one, the son of great strength.

ब्रह्मा॑ त इन्द्र गिर्वणः क्रि॒यन्ते॒ अन॑तिद्भुता ।इ॒मा जु॑षस्व हर्यश्व॒ योज॒नेन्द्र॒ या ते॒ अम॑न्महि

हे स्तुतिप्रिय इन्द्र, तेरे लिए ऐसी प्रार्थनाएँ रची जा रही हैं जिनसे बढ़कर कोई नहीं। हे हरे घोड़ों वाले इन्द्र, जो रचनाएँ हमने तेरे लिए सोची हैं, उन्हें स्वीकार कर।

Indra, lover of songs, unsurpassed formulations are being made for you. You with the fallow bay horses, Indra, enjoy these yokings that we have thought up for you.

त्वं हि स॒त्यो म॑घव॒न्नना॑नतो वृ॒त्रा भूरि॑ न्यृ॒ञ्जसे॑ ।स त्वं श॑विष्ठ वज्रहस्त दा॒शुषेऽ॒र्वाञ्चं॑ र॒यिमा कृ॑धि

हे मघवन्, तू सचमुच सत्य है और कभी नहीं झुकता; तू बहुत-से शत्रुओं को दबा देता है। इसलिए हे अत्यन्त बलवान्, हाथ में वज्र धारण करने वाले, हवि देने वाले के लिए धन इधर हमारी ओर ले आ।

For you are real, Maghavan, and you do not bend; you bring down many obstacles. So, strongest one, mace in hand, bring wealth here to the man who worships you.

त्वमि॑न्द्र य॒शा अ॑स्यृजी॒षी श॑वसस्पते ।त्वं वृ॒त्राणि॑ हंस्यप्र॒तीन्येक॒ इदनु॑त्ता चर्षणी॒धृता॑

हे बल के स्वामी इन्द्र, तू यशस्वी है और ऋजीषी (बचे हुए सोम का पान करने वाला) है। तू अकेला ही उन शत्रुओं को मारता है जो अजेय हैं और किसी से हटाए नहीं जाते।

Indra, you are glorious, ṛjīṣin, lord of strength. You alone strike down obstacles that have no match, you who cannot be driven back, the sustainer of peoples.

तमु॑ त्वा नू॒नम॑सुर॒ प्रचे॑तसं॒ राधो॑ भा॒गमि॑वेमहे ।म॒हीव॒ कृत्तिः॑ शर॒णा त॑ इन्द्र॒ प्र ते॑ सु॒म्ना नो॑ अश्नवन्

हे अत्यन्त प्रज्ञावान् असुर, अब हम तुझसे दान माँगते हैं जैसे कोई अपना हिस्सा माँगता है। हे इन्द्र, तेरी शरण बड़े चमड़े के आवरण की तरह (विस्तृत) है; तेरे सुख हम तक पहुँचें।

Lord, we now come to you, the attentive one, for bounty as if for our rightful share. Your shelter, Indra, is like a broad hide. May your favours reach us.
