आ गावो॑ अग्मन्नु॒त भ॒द्रम॑क्र॒न्सीद॑न्तु गो॒ष्ठे र॒णय॑न्त्व॒स्मे ।प्र॒जाव॑तीः पुरु॒रूपा॑ इ॒ह स्यु॒रिन्द्रा॑य पू॒र्वीरु॒षसो॒ दुहा॑नाः

गौएँ आ गई हैं और उन्होंने कल्याण किया है — वे गोशाला में बैठें, हमारे पास प्रसन्न रहें। वे संतानवाली और अनेक रंग-रूप वाली यहीं बनी रहें और बहुत-सी उषाओं तक इन्द्र के लिए दूध देती रहें।

The cows have come and brought good fortune. Let them settle in the cow-pen and be content among us. May they stay here, many-coloured and rich in calves, giving milk for Indra through many dawns.

इन्द्रो॒ यज्व॑ने पृण॒ते च॑ शिक्ष॒त्युपेद्द॑दाति॒ न स्वं मु॑षायति ।भूयो॑भूयो र॒यिमिद॑स्य व॒र्धय॒न्नभि॑न्ने खि॒ल्ये नि द॑धाति देव॒युम्

इन्द्र यज्ञ करने वाले और दान देने वाले को देता है; वह देता ही है, अपना दिया हुआ छीनता नहीं। वह देवों को चाहने वाले का धन बार-बार बढ़ाते हुए उसे अखण्ड, सुरक्षित भूमि पर बसा देता है।

Indra helps the one who sacrifices and gives generously. He gives him more and does not take away what is his. Increasing his wealth again and again, he settles the god-seeker in undivided land.

न ता न॑शन्ति॒ न द॑भाति॒ तस्क॑रो॒ नासा॑मामि॒त्रो व्यथि॒रा द॑धर्षति ।दे॒वाँश्च॒ याभि॒र्यज॑ते॒ ददा॑ति च॒ ज्योगित्ताभिः॑ सचते॒ गोप॑तिः स॒ह

वे गौएँ नष्ट नहीं होतीं, चोर उन्हें हर नहीं पाता, शत्रु उन पर आघात करने का साहस नहीं करता। जिन गौओं से यजमान देवों की पूजा करता और दान देता है, उनके साथ वह गोस्वामी बहुत काल तक रहता है।

They are not lost, no thief harms them, and no hostile raider dares attack them. The lord of the cows lives with them for a long time, the cows with which he worships the gods and makes gifts.

न ता अर्वा॑ रे॒णुक॑काटो अश्नुते॒ न सं॑स्कृत॒त्रमुप॑ यन्ति॒ ता अ॒भि ।उ॒रु॒गा॒यमभ॑यं॒ तस्य॒ ता अनु॒ गावो॒ मर्त॑स्य॒ वि च॑रन्ति॒ यज्व॑नः

धूल उड़ाता हुआ (लूट का) घोड़ा उन तक नहीं पहुँचता, और वे वध-स्थान की ओर नहीं जातीं। उस यज्ञकर्ता मनुष्य की गौएँ विस्तृत और निर्भय चरागाह में घूमती हैं।

No warhorse raising the dust reaches them, and they do not go to the slaughtering place. The cows of the mortal who sacrifices roam freely over wide, safe pasture.

गावो॒ भगो॒ गाव॒ इन्द्रो॑ मे अच्छा॒न्गावः॒ सोम॑स्य प्रथ॒मस्य॑ भ॒क्षः ।इ॒मा या गावः॒ स ज॑नास॒ इन्द्र॑ इ॒च्छामीद्धृ॒दा मन॑सा चि॒दिन्द्र॑म्

गौएँ ही भग हैं, गौएँ ही इन्द्र हैं — ऐसी वे मुझे प्रिय लगीं; गौएँ ही प्रथम सोम का पान हैं। हे लोगों, ये जो गौएँ हैं, वही इन्द्र है; मैं हृदय और मन से इन्द्र को ही चाहता हूँ।

The cows have seemed to me to be Bhaga, the cows to be Indra, and the cows to be a portion of the first soma. These cows, people, they are Indra. I long for Indra with my heart and mind.

यू॒यं गा॑वो मेदयथा कृ॒शं चि॑दश्री॒रं चि॑त्कृणुथा सु॒प्रती॑कम् ।भ॒द्रं गृ॒हं कृ॑णुथ भद्रवाचो बृ॒हद्वो॒ वय॑ उच्यते स॒भासु॑

हे गौओ, तुम दुबले को भी पुष्ट कर देती हो और कुरूप को भी सुन्दर रूप वाला बना देती हो। हे मंगल बोलने वाली गौओ, तुम घर को कल्याणमय बनाती हो; सभाओं में तुम्हारे महान बल की चर्चा होती है।

You cows fatten even the thin and make even the unlovely beautiful to look at. You with pleasant voices make the home prosperous. Your great vigour is praised in the assemblies.

प्र॒जाव॑तीः सू॒यव॑सं रि॒शन्तीः॑ शु॒द्धा अ॒पः सु॑प्रपा॒णे पिब॑न्तीः ।मा वः॑ स्ते॒न ई॑शत॒ माघशं॑सः॒ परि॑ वो हे॒ती रु॒द्रस्य॑ वृज्याः

संतानवाली तुम अच्छी घास चरती हुई और अच्छे जलाशय पर स्वच्छ जल पीती हुई रहो; तुम पर चोर का वश न चले, न किसी पापी का। रुद्र का अस्त्र तुम्हें छोड़कर दूर हट जाए।

Rich in calves, grazing on good pasture, drinking clear water at a good watering place: let no thief and no one who wishes harm have power over you. May Rudra's weapon pass you by.

उपे॒दमु॑प॒पर्च॑नमा॒सु गोषूप॑ पृच्यताम् ।उप॑ ऋष॒भस्य॒ रेत॒स्युपे॑न्द्र॒ तव॑ वी॒र्ये॑

इन गौओं में यह पुष्टिकर संयोग हो, यह मिलन हो — वृषभ के बीज में हो, और हे इन्द्र, तेरे पराक्रम में हो।

Let this nourishing mixture be mixed into these cows, mixed into the bull's seed, and into your heroic strength, Indra.
