इन्द्रः

प्रा॒ता रथो॒ नवो॑ योजि॒ सस्नि॒श्चतु॑र्युगस्त्रिक॒शः स॒प्तर॑श्मिः ।दशा॑रित्रो मनु॒ष्यः॑ स्व॒र्षाः स इ॒ष्टिभि॑र्म॒तिभी॒ रंह्यो॑ भूत्

प्रातःकाल नया रथ जोता गया है — लाभ दिलाने वाला, चार जुओं वाला, तीन चाबुकों वाला, सात रस्सियों वाला, दस डाँडों वाला, मनुष्यों का हितकारी और स्वर्ग (प्रकाश) को जीतने वाला; वह हमारी आहुतियों और स्तुतियों से तेज़ दौड़े।

At dawn the new chariot has been yoked, the prize-winning one, with four yokes, three whips, seven reins and ten oars. It belongs to the sons of Manu and wins the sun, and our offerings and thoughts have made it swift.

सास्मा॒ अरं॑ प्रथ॒मं स द्वि॒तीय॑मु॒तो तृ॒तीयं॒ मनु॑षः॒ स होता॑ ।अ॒न्यस्या॒ गर्भ॑म॒न्य ऊ॑ जनन्त॒ सो अ॒न्येभिः॑ सचते॒ जेन्यो॒ वृषा॑

वही (रथ/सवन) उसके लिए पहली बार पर्याप्त है, वही दूसरी बार और वही तीसरी बार; वही मनुष्य का होता है। एक (माता) के गर्भ को दूसरे जन्म देते हैं, और वह विजयी वृषभ दूसरों के साथ रहता है।

It is ready for him at the first, the second and the third pressing; it is Manu's hotar. Some beget the embryo of another, while he, the victorious bull, keeps company with others.

हरी॒ नु कं॒ रथ॒ इन्द्र॑स्य योजमा॒यै सू॒क्तेन॒ वच॑सा॒ नवे॑न ।मो षु त्वामत्र॑ ब॒हवो॒ हि विप्रा॒ नि री॑रम॒न्यज॑मानासो अ॒न्ये

इन्द्र के रथ में मैं अभी दोनों हरि घोड़ों को जोतता हूँ, कि वह नई सूक्त-वाणी से यहाँ आए। यहाँ दूसरे बहुत-से विप्र और यजमान तुझे रोक न लें।

With a well-made, new hymn I have now yoked the two fallow bay horses to Indra's chariot so that he will come. Do not let the many other inspired poets, the other sacrificers, hold you back there.

आ द्वाभ्यां॒ हरि॑भ्यामिन्द्र या॒ह्या च॒तुर्भि॒रा ष॒ड्भिर्हू॒यमा॑नः ।आष्टा॒भिर्द॒शभिः॑ सोम॒पेय॑म॒यं सु॒तः सु॑मख॒ मा मृध॑स्कः

हे इन्द्र, दो हरि घोड़ों से आ, चार से आ, बुलाए जाने पर छह से आ; आठ और दस से सोमपान के लिए आ। यह सोम निचोड़ा हुआ है — हे उदार, इसका तिरस्कार मत कर।

Come, Indra, when you are called, with two bay horses, with four, with six; come with eight and with ten to drink the soma. This soma has been pressed, generous one. Do not scorn it.

आ विं॑श॒त्या त्रिं॒शता॑ याह्य॒र्वाङा च॑त्वारिं॒शता॒ हरि॑भिर्युजा॒नः ।आ प॑ञ्चा॒शता॑ सु॒रथे॑भिरि॒न्द्रा ष॒ष्ट्या स॑प्त॒त्या सो॑म॒पेय॑म्

बीस से, तीस से इधर आ; चालीस हरि घोड़े जोतकर आ; पचास से, अच्छे रथों के साथ, हे इन्द्र, साठ और सत्तर से सोमपान के लिए आ।

Come here with twenty, thirty, forty bay horses yoked; come, Indra, with fifty on fine chariots, with sixty, with seventy, to drink the soma.

आशी॒त्या न॑व॒त्या या॑ह्य॒र्वाङा श॒तेन॒ हरि॑भिरु॒ह्यमा॑नः ।अ॒यं हि ते॑ शु॒नहो॑त्रेषु॒ सोम॒ इन्द्र॑ त्वा॒या परि॑षिक्तो॒ मदा॑य

अस्सी से, नब्बे से इधर आ; सौ हरि घोड़ों से ढोया हुआ आ। हे इन्द्र, शुनहोत्रों के यहाँ यह सोम तेरे लिए, तुझसे प्रेम के कारण, तेरे मद के लिए ढाला गया है।

Come here with eighty, with ninety, carried by a hundred bay horses. For this soma among the Śunahotras has been poured out in the vessel for you, Indra, to make you drunk with joy.

मम॒ ब्रह्मे॑न्द्र या॒ह्यच्छा॒ विश्वा॒ हरी॑ धु॒रि धि॑ष्वा॒ रथ॑स्य ।पु॒रु॒त्रा हि वि॒हव्यो॑ ब॒भूथा॒स्मिञ्छू॑र॒ सव॑ने मादयस्व

हे इन्द्र, मेरी स्तुति की ओर आ; अपने सब हरि घोड़ों को रथ के जुए में लगा। तू बहुत जगह बुलाए जाने योग्य है — हे शूर, इस सवन में तृप्त होकर आनन्द ले।

Come to my sacred formulation, Indra, and yoke both bay horses to the chariot pole. You are called on by rivals in many places, but at this pressing, hero, take your delight.

न म॒ इन्द्रे॑ण स॒ख्यं वि यो॑षद॒स्मभ्य॑मस्य॒ दक्षि॑णा दुहीत ।उप॒ ज्येष्ठे॒ वरू॑थे॒ गभ॑स्तौ प्रा॒येप्रा॑ये जिगी॒वांसः॑ स्याम

इन्द्र के साथ मेरी मित्रता न टूटे; उसकी दक्षिणा (दान-धेनु) हमारे लिए दूध दे। उसके श्रेष्ठ आश्रय में, उसकी भुजा के नीचे, हम हर संग्राम में विजयी हों।

May my friendship with Indra never come apart; may his gift-cow give milk for us. Under the supreme shelter of his hand, may we be victorious at every advance.

नू॒नं सा ते॒ प्रति॒ वरं॑ जरि॒त्रे दु॑ही॒यदि॑न्द्र॒ दक्षि॑णा म॒घोनी॑ ।शिक्षा॑ स्तो॒तृभ्यो॒ माति॑ ध॒ग्भगो॑ नो बृ॒हद्व॑देम वि॒दथे॑ सु॒वीराः॑

हे इन्द्र, तेरी वह धनवती दक्षिणा अब स्तोता को उसकी इच्छा के अनुसार दे। स्तुति करने वालों को दे, भग (सौभाग्य) हमें छोड़कर आगे न निकल जाए — हम उत्तम वीरों के साथ यज्ञ-सभा में ऊँचे स्वर से बोलें।

Now, Indra, let your bounteous gift-cow give the singer milk to match his wish. Give generously to those who praise you; do not let Bhaga pass us by. May we speak loudly at the ritual gathering, with fine heroes around us.
