इन्द्रः

अ॒यं हि ते॒ अम॑र्त्य॒ इन्दु॒रत्यो॒ न पत्य॑ते ।दक्षो॑ वि॒श्वायु॑र्वे॒धसे॑

हे अमर इन्द्र, यह इन्दु (सोमरस) तेरा ही है और घोड़े की तरह तेरे वश में चलता है — यह बल देने वाला, पूरी आयु देने वाला, विधाता (यज्ञकर्ता) के लिए है।

For this immortal drop races toward you like a horse. It is skill and lifelong vigour for the ritual expert.

अ॒यम॒स्मासु॒ काव्य॑ ऋ॒भुर्वज्रो॒ दास्व॑ते ।अ॒यं बि॑भर्त्यू॒र्ध्वकृ॑शनं॒ मद॑मृ॒भुर्न कृत्व्यं॒ मद॑म्

यह (सोम) हममें कवि-शक्ति है, दान देने वाले के लिए ऋभु-सा कुशल और वज्र के समान है; यह ऊपर उठाने वाला मद धारण करता है, ऋभु की तरह कार्य सिद्ध करने वाला मद।

This one among us comes from the poet Kavi's line. He is a Ṛbhu, a crafty artisan, and a vajra, a mace, for the generous worshipper. This one carries the exhilaration of Ūrdhvakṛśana, like a Ṛbhu: an exhilaration that leads to action.

घृषुः॑ श्ये॒नाय॒ कृत्व॑न आ॒सु स्वासु॒ वंस॑गः ।अव॑ दीधेदही॒शुवः॑

कार्यकुशल श्येन के लिए उतावला, इन अपनी (जलधाराओं) में बैल-सा वह (सोम) अहीशु को नीचे दबा देता है।

Eager for the falcon, effective, the bull among these, his own females, has shone down on the Ahīśuvas.

यं सु॑प॒र्णः प॑रा॒वतः॑ श्ये॒नस्य॑ पु॒त्र आभ॑रत् ।श॒तच॑क्रं॒ यो॒३ऽ॒॑ह्यो॑ वर्त॒निः

जिस (सोम) को सुन्दर पंखों वाला श्येन-पुत्र दूर लोक से ले आया — जिसका मार्ग सौ चक्रों वाला और अजेय है।

The one whom the well-winged bird, the falcon's son, brought from far away: the hundred-wheeled one, which is the serpent's track.

यं ते॑ श्ये॒नश्चारु॑मवृ॒कं प॒दाभ॑रदरु॒णं मा॒नमन्ध॑सः ।ए॒ना वयो॒ वि ता॒र्यायु॑र्जी॒वस॑ ए॒ना जा॑गार ब॒न्धुता॑

जिस सुन्दर, निर्बाध, अरुण वर्ण के सोमरस के माप को श्येन अपने पंजे में तेरे लिए ले आया — इसी से बल और जीने की आयु बढ़ती है, इसी से बन्धुता जागती रहती है।

The lovely, wolf-free, ruddy measure of soma that the falcon carried to you in its foot: through it, vigour and lifespan have been extended so we may live, and through it, kinship has kept watch.

ए॒वा तदिन्द्र॒ इन्दु॑ना दे॒वेषु॑ चिद्धारयाते॒ महि॒ त्यजः॑ ।क्रत्वा॒ वयो॒ वि ता॒र्यायुः॑ सुक्रतो॒ क्रत्वा॒यम॒स्मदा सु॒तः

इस प्रकार इन्द्र इस इन्दु के बल से देवताओं के बीच भी वह बड़ा आक्रमण-बल धारण करे। हे सुक्रतु, क्रतु (कर्मशक्ति) से बल और आयु बढ़ती है — क्रतु से ही यह सोम हमारे यहाँ निचोड़ा गया है।

In this way Indra, through the drop, will hold back great hostility even among the gods. O Indra of good resolve, through your resolve vigour and lifespan have been extended; through resolve this soma has been pressed by us.
