जल द्वारा शुद्धिPurification by the waters

अतिसृष्टो अपां वृषभो ऽतिसृष्टा अग्नयो दिव्याः

जलों का वृषभ छोड़ दिया गया है, दिव्य अग्नियाँ छोड़ दी गई हैं।

The bull of the waters has been let loose; the heavenly fires have been let loose.

रुजन् परिरुजन् मृणन् प्रमृणन्

(छोड़ी गई हानिकारक अग्नियाँ:) तोड़ने वाला, चारों ओर से तोड़ने वाला, कुचलने वाला, पूरी तरह कुचलने वाला।

(The harmful fires let loose:) Breaker, breaker all around, crusher, crusher outright.

म्रोको मनोहा खनो निर्दाह आत्मदूषिस् तनूदूषिः

(छोड़ी गई हानिकारक अग्नियाँ:) म्रोक, मन को मारने वाला, खोदने वाला, जला डालने वाला, आत्मा को दूषित करने वाला, शरीर को दूषित करने वाला।

(The harmful fires let loose:) Mroka, mind-slayer, digger, burner-up, spoiler of the self, spoiler of the body.

इदं तम् अति सृजामि तं माभ्यवनिक्षि

इसे (इस अग्नि को) मैं यहाँ से दूर छोड़ता हूँ; मैं इससे अपने को न धोऊँ।

Here I let it (this fire) go away; may I not wash myself with it.

तेन तम् अभ्यतिसृजामो यो᳙ ऽस्मान् द्वेष्टि यं वयं द्विष्मः

उसके (इस अग्नि के) द्वारा हम उसे उस पर छोड़ते हैं जो हमसे द्वेष करता है और जिससे हम द्वेष करते हैं।

With it (this fire) we let it loose upon the one who hates us and whom we hate.

अपाम् अग्रम् असि समुद्रं वो ऽभ्यवसृजामि

(अब जलों से:) तुम जलों का अग्र भाग हो; मैं तुम्हें समुद्र की ओर नीचे छोड़ता हूँ।

(To the waters:) You are the foremost of the waters; I send you down to the ocean.

यो᳙ ऽप्स्व् अ᳙ग्निर् अति तं सृजामि म्रोकं खनिं तनूदूषिम्

जलों में जो अग्नि है, उसे मैं दूर छोड़ता हूँ — म्रोक, खोदने वाले, शरीर को दूषित करने वाले को।

The fire that is in the waters I let go away: the mroka, the digger, the spoiler of the body.

यो व आपो ऽग्निर् आविवेश स एष यद् वो घोरं तद् एतत्

हे जलो, जो अग्नि तुममें प्रविष्ट हुई है, वह यही है; तुम्हारा जो भयानक अंश है, वह यही है।

The fire that has entered you, waters, is this one; what is dreadful in you is this.

इन्द्रस्य व इन्द्रियेणाभि षिञ्चेत्

वह तुम्हें इन्द्र की इन्द्र-शक्ति से अभिषिक्त करे।

May he sprinkle you with Indra's own power.

अरिप्रा आपो अप रिप्रम् अस्मत्

जल निर्मल हैं; वे मल को हमसे दूर करें।

The waters are free of taint; let them take the taint away from us.

प्रास्मद् एनो वहन्तु प्र दुष्वप्न्यं वहन्तु

वे हमसे पाप को बहा ले जाएँ, बुरे स्वप्न को बहा ले जाएँ।

Let them carry sin away from us; let them carry bad dreams away.

शिवेन मा चक्षुषा पश्यतापः शिवया तन्वोप स्पृशत त्वचं मे

हे जलो, मुझे कल्याणकारी दृष्टि से देखो; अपने कल्याणकारी शरीर से मेरी त्वचा को छुओ।

Look on me with a kindly eye, waters; touch my skin with your kindly body.

शिवान् अग्नीन् अप्सुषदो हवामहे मयि क्षत्रं वर्च आ धत्त देवीः

हम जलों में बसी कल्याणकारी अग्नियों को पुकारते हैं; हे देवियो, मुझमें क्षात्र-बल और तेज स्थापित करो।

We call on the kindly fires that dwell in the waters; goddesses, place ruling power and splendour in me.
