उषस:

उपो॑ रुरुचे युव॒तिर्न योषा॒ विश्वं॑ जी॒वं प्र॑सु॒वन्ती॑ च॒रायै॑ ।अभू॑द॒ग्निः स॒मिधे॒ मानु॑षाणा॒मक॒र्ज्योति॒र्बाध॑माना॒ तमां॑सि

वह (उषा) किसी युवती स्त्री के समान चमक उठी है, और हर जीव को चलने-फिरने के लिए उठा रही है। मनुष्यों के लिए अग्नि जलाने का समय आ गया — अन्धकार को हटाती हुई उसने प्रकाश कर दिया।

She has shone out like a young woman, rousing every living thing to move about. Agni has come into being, to be kindled by men; she has made light, driving away the darkness.

विश्वं॑ प्रती॒ची स॒प्रथा॒ उद॑स्था॒द्रुश॒द्वासो॒ बिभ्र॑ती शु॒क्रम॑श्वैत् ।हिर॑ण्यवर्णा सु॒दृशी॑कसंदृ॒ग्गवां॑ मा॒ता ने॒त्र्यह्ना॑मरोचि

सबके सामने आती हुई, दूर तक फैलकर वह ऊपर उठी; चमकीला वस्त्र पहने हुए वह उज्ज्वल रूप में श्वेत हो उठी। सुनहरे रंग की, देखने में सुन्दर, गायों की माता और दिनों को आगे ले चलने वाली वह चमक उठी।

Spreading wide and facing the whole world, she has risen, wearing bright clothing, and has blazed out brilliantly. Golden-coloured and lovely to look at, mother of the cows and leader of the days, she has shone.

दे॒वानां॒ चक्षुः॑ सु॒भगा॒ वह॑न्ती श्वे॒तं नय॑न्ती सु॒दृशी॑क॒मश्व॑म् ।उ॒षा अ॑दर्शि र॒श्मिभि॒र्व्य॑क्ता चि॒त्राम॑घा॒ विश्व॒मनु॒ प्रभू॑ता

देवों की आँख (सूर्य) को साथ लाती हुई, सौभाग्यशालिनी, देखने में सुन्दर श्वेत घोड़े को आगे ले चलती हुई उषा दिखाई दी — अपनी किरणों से प्रकट, चमकीले धन वाली, सब पर छा जाने वाली।

The fortunate one, bringing the eye of the gods and leading the white horse that is lovely to see, Ushas has appeared, anointed with rays, rich in bright gifts, spreading out over everything.

अन्ति॑वामा दू॒रे अ॒मित्र॑मुच्छो॒र्वीं गव्यू॑ति॒मभ॑यं कृधी नः ।या॒वय॒ द्वेष॒ आ भ॑रा॒ वसू॑नि चो॒दय॒ राधो॑ गृण॒ते म॑घोनि

हे पास ही अपना धन रखने वाली (उषा), शत्रु को दूर रखते हुए उदित हो; हमारे लिए चौड़ा चरागाह और निर्भयता कर दे। द्वेष करने वालों को हटा दे, धन लेकर आ, और हे धनवती, स्तुति करने वाले के लिए दान भेज।

You whose good things are close at hand, drive the enemy far off with your light; make the broad pasture free of danger for us. Keep hostility away, bring us riches, and send generosity to the one who praises you, bountiful lady.

अ॒स्मे श्रेष्ठे॑भिर्भा॒नुभि॒र्वि भा॒ह्युषो॑ देवि प्रति॒रन्ती॑ न॒ आयुः॑ ।इषं॑ च नो॒ दध॑ती विश्ववारे॒ गोम॒दश्वा॑व॒द्रथ॑वच्च॒ राधः॑

हे उषा देवी, हमारी आयु बढ़ाती हुई अपनी श्रेष्ठ किरणों से हमारे लिए चमक। हे सब वरदानों वाली, हमें अन्न दे और गाय, घोड़े तथा रथ वाला दान दे।

Shine out for us with your finest beams, goddess Ushas, lengthening our lives. Desired by all, give us nourishment and wealth in cows, horses and chariots.

यां त्वा॑ दिवो दुहितर्व॒र्धय॒न्त्युषः॑ सुजाते म॒तिभि॒र्वसि॑ष्ठाः ।सास्मासु॑ धा र॒यिमृ॒ष्वं बृ॒हन्तं॑ यू॒यं पा॑त स्व॒स्तिभिः॒ सदा॑ नः

हे आकाश की पुत्री, हे सुजन्मा उषा, जिस तुझे वसिष्ठ लोग अपनी स्तुतियों से बढ़ाते हैं — वही तू हमें ऊँचा और बड़ा धन दे। तुम सब (देव) अपने कल्याणकारी साधनों से हमारी सदा रक्षा करो।

Daughter of the sky, well-born Ushas, whom the Vasishthas strengthen with their poems: give us lofty, abundant wealth. All of you, protect us always with blessings.
