इन्द्राग्नी

इन्द्रा॑ग्नी॒ यमव॑थ उ॒भा वाजे॑षु॒ मर्त्य॑म् ।दृ॒ळ्हा चि॒त्स प्र भे॑दति द्यु॒म्ना वाणी॑रिव त्रि॒तः

हे इन्द्र और अग्नि, संग्रामों में तुम दोनों जिस मनुष्य की रक्षा करते हो, वह दृढ़ (किलों) को भी तोड़ डालता है — वैसे ही जैसे त्रित ने (बाधाओं को) तोड़ा था।

Indra and Agni, the mortal you both help in the contests for the prize breaks open even what is firmly fixed, as Trita broke open the brilliant vāṇīs.

या पृत॑नासु दु॒ष्टरा॒ या वाजे॑षु श्र॒वाय्या॑ ।या पञ्च॑ चर्ष॒णीर॒भी॑न्द्रा॒ग्नी ता ह॑वामहे

जो दोनों युद्धों में अजेय हैं, जो संग्रामों में कीर्ति के योग्य हैं, जो पाँचों मनुष्य-जातियों पर छाए हुए हैं — उन इन्द्र और अग्नि को हम बुलाते हैं।

The two who are hard to overcome in battles, who deserve fame in the contests, who rule over the five peoples: those two, Indra and Agni, we call on.

तयो॒रिदम॑व॒च्छव॑स्ति॒ग्मा दि॒द्युन्म॒घोनोः॑ ।प्रति॒ द्रुणा॒ गभ॑स्त्यो॒र्गवां॑ वृत्र॒घ्न एष॑ते

उन दोनों धनवानों का यह बल प्रचण्ड है और उनका अस्त्र तीक्ष्ण है; वृत्रघ्न की भुजाओं से काठ (के धनुष) के सहारे (वह अस्त्र) गायों को पाने के लिए छूटता है।

Theirs is overwhelming strength. Sharp is the missile of the two generous ones, which flies out with its wooden shaft from the hands of the Vritra-slayer, in search of cows.

ता वा॒मेषे॒ रथा॑नामिन्द्रा॒ग्नी ह॑वामहे ।पती॑ तु॒रस्य॒ राध॑सो वि॒द्वांसा॒ गिर्व॑णस्तमा

उन इन्द्र और अग्नि को हम रथों की प्राप्ति के लिए बुलाते हैं — वे शीघ्र मिलनेवाले धन के स्वामी हैं, ज्ञानी हैं और स्तुतियों के सबसे बड़े प्रेमी हैं।

Indra and Agni, we call on you two to drive our chariots forward: you lords of quick-coming bounty, wise, most welcoming of songs.

ता वृ॒धन्ता॒वनु॒ द्यून्मर्ता॑य दे॒वाव॒दभा॑ ।अर्ह॑न्ता चित्पु॒रो द॒धेंऽशे॑व दे॒वावर्व॑ते

दिन-ब-दिन बढ़नेवाले, मनुष्य के लिए कभी धोखा न देनेवाले उन दोनों देवों को — पूजनीय होने पर भी — मैंने आगे रखा है, घोड़े के लिए दो हिस्सों के समान।

These two gods, who grow stronger day after day for the mortal and cannot be deceived, worthy as they are, I set at the front, like two shares for the racehorse.

ए॒वेन्द्रा॒ग्निभ्या॒महा॑वि ह॒व्यं शू॒ष्यं॑ घृ॒तं न पू॒तमद्रि॑भिः ।ता सू॒रिषु॒ श्रवो॑ बृ॒हद्र॒यिं गृ॒णत्सु॑ दिधृत॒मिषं॑ गृ॒णत्सु॑ दिधृतम्

इस प्रकार इन्द्र और अग्नि को बल देनेवाली हवि अर्पित की गई है, जो पत्थरों से निचोड़े गए (सोम) की तरह और घृत की तरह शुद्ध है। तुम दोनों यजमानों को ऊँची कीर्ति और स्तुति करनेवालों को धन दो, स्तुति करनेवालों को अन्न दो।

So an invigorating oblation has been poured out for Indra and Agni, like ghee purified by the pressing stones. Grant our patrons great fame and wealth; grant the singers nourishment, grant it to the singers.
