अग्निः

अ॒ग्निं स्तोमे॑न बोधय समिधा॒नो अम॑र्त्यम् ।ह॒व्या दे॒वेषु॑ नो दधत्

अग्नि को प्रज्वलित करते हुए, स्तोत्र से उस अमर को जगाओ। वह हमारी हवियों को देवों तक पहुँचाए।

Wake Agni with a praise-song as you kindle the immortal one. He will set our oblations among the gods.

तम॑ध्व॒रेष्वी॑ळते दे॒वं मर्ता॒ अम॑र्त्यम् ।यजि॑ष्ठं॒ मानु॑षे॒ जने॑

यज्ञों में मरणशील मनुष्य उसी अमर देव की स्तुति करते हैं — जो मनुष्य-समाज में सबसे श्रेष्ठ यजन करने वाला है।

Mortals invoke him at the rites: the god, the immortal one, the best at sacrifice among the human people.

तं हि शश्व॑न्त॒ ईळ॑ते स्रु॒चा दे॒वं घृ॑त॒श्चुता॑ ।अ॒ग्निं ह॒व्याय॒ वोळ्ह॑वे

घृत टपकाती हुई स्रुचा (चमस) लेकर सभी लोग निरन्तर उसी देव अग्नि की स्तुति करते हैं, जिससे वह हवि को देवों तक ले जाए।

For many people invoke the god with a ladle dripping ghee. They call on Agni to carry the oblation.

अ॒ग्निर्जा॒तो अ॑रोचत॒ घ्नन्दस्यू॒ञ्ज्योति॑षा॒ तमः॑ ।अवि॑न्द॒द्गा अ॒पः स्वः॑

उत्पन्न होते ही अग्नि चमक उठा, अपने प्रकाश से दस्युओं और अन्धकार को मारता हुआ; उसने गौओं, जलों और सूर्यलोक को पा लिया।

As soon as he was born, Agni shone out, striking down the Dasyus and the darkness with his light. He found the cows, the waters, and the sun.

अ॒ग्निमी॒ळेन्यं॑ क॒विं घृ॒तपृ॑ष्ठं सपर्यत ।वेतु॑ मे शृ॒णव॒द्धव॑म्

स्तुति के योग्य, कवि (मेधावी), घृत से सिंचित पीठ वाले अग्नि की सेवा-पूजा करो। वह मेरे पास आए और मेरी पुकार सुने।

Honour Agni, the poet who deserves invocation, whose back is ghee. May he come for the offering and hear my call.

अ॒ग्निं घृ॒तेन॑ वावृधुः॒ स्तोमे॑भिर्वि॒श्वच॑र्षणिम् ।स्वा॒धीभि॑र्वच॒स्युभिः॑

सब मनुष्यों के अग्नि को उन्होंने घृत से तथा शुभ भावना से भरे, वाणी-कुशल स्तोत्रों से बढ़ाया है।

They have made Agni grow strong with ghee and with praise-songs. Agni belongs to all peoples, and the songs are well-thought and eloquent.
