इन्द्रः

मत्सि॑ नो॒ वस्य॑‍इष्टय॒ इन्द्र॑मिन्दो॒ वृषा वि॑श ।ऋ॒घा॒यमा॑ण इन्वसि॒ शत्रु॒मन्ति॒ न वि॑न्दसि

हे इन्दु (सोम), हमें धन की प्राप्ति के लिए आनन्दित कर; वृषभ बनकर इन्द्र में प्रवेश कर। तू उग्र होकर आगे बढ़ता है, और पास में कोई शत्रु तुझे मिलता ही नहीं।

Bring us exhilaration so that we may win better things, Indu; enter Indra as a bull. Swelling with force, you surge onward, and find no rival near you.

तस्मि॒न्ना वे॑शया॒ गिरो॒ य एक॑श्चर्षणी॒नाम् ।अनु॑ स्व॒धा यमु॒प्यते॒ यवं॒ न चर्कृ॑ष॒द्वृषा॑

हमारी स्तुतियों को उसी में पहुँचा दे, जो मनुष्यों में अकेला ही (स्वामी) है; जिसके लिए स्वधा (हवि) वैसे ही बिखेरकर अर्पित की जाती है, जैसे बलवान् हल चलाने वाला जौ बोता है।

Make the hymns enter into him who alone is lord of the settled peoples, along whose course the svadhā is sown, as a bull ploughs barley again and again.

यस्य॒ विश्वा॑नि॒ हस्त॑योः॒ पञ्च॑ क्षिती॒नां वसु॑ ।स्पा॒शय॑स्व॒ यो अ॑स्म॒ध्रुग्दि॒व्येवा॒शनि॑र्जहि

जिसके दोनों हाथों में पाँचों जनों की सारी सम्पत्ति है — जो हमारा द्रोह करता है उसे ताक में रख, ढूँढ़ निकाल, और दिव्य वज्र की तरह उसे मार डाल।

Indra, in whose two hands lie all the goods of the five peoples: track down whoever is treacherous to us, and strike him like the heavenly thunderbolt.

असु॑न्वन्तं समं जहि दू॒णाशं॒ यो न ते॒ मयः॑ ।अ॒स्मभ्य॑मस्य॒ वेद॑नं द॒द्धि सू॒रिश्चि॑दोहते

सोम न निचोड़ने वाले हर उस दुर्जय व्यक्ति को मार डाल, जो तुझे सुख नहीं देता; उसका धन हमें दे दे — यजमान भी उसकी आशा रखता है।

Strike down every man who does not press soma, the one hard to get at, who gives you no pleasure. Give his property to us; even the patron is waiting for it.

आवो॒ यस्य॑ द्वि॒बर्ह॑सोऽ॒र्केषु॑ सानु॒षगस॑त् ।आ॒जाविन्द्र॑स्येन्दो॒ प्रावो॒ वाजे॑षु वा॒जिन॑म्

हे इन्दु, तूने उस दुहरी शक्ति वाले (इन्द्र) की सहायता की, जिसकी शक्ति स्तोत्रों में निरन्तर बनी रहे; इन्द्र के संग्राम में तूने रक्षा की और पुरस्कार की होड़ में विजयी को आगे बढ़ाया।

You helped the doubly strong one, in whose chants you were constantly present. In Indra's contest, Indu, you helped the prize-winner in the contests for prizes.

यथा॒ पूर्वे॑भ्यो जरि॒तृभ्य॑ इन्द्र॒ मय॑ इ॒वापो॒ न तृष्य॑ते ब॒भूथ॑ ।तामनु॑ त्वा नि॒विदं॑ जोहवीमि वि॒द्यामे॒षं वृ॒जनं॑ जी॒रदा॑नुम्

हे इन्द्र, जैसे तू पहले के स्तोताओं के लिए सुख रहा है, और जैसे प्यासे के लिए जल — वैसे ही इस निविद् (स्तुति-वचन) के साथ मैं तुझे बार-बार पुकारता हूँ। हम अन्न और शीघ्र फल देने वाला वृजन प्राप्त करें।

Indra, just as you were a joy to earlier singers, like water to a thirsty man, so I call on you again and again, following that same proclamation. May we find refreshment, a secure community, and lively gifts.
