वायुः

आ त्वा॒ जुवो॑ रारहा॒णा अ॒भि प्रयो॒ वायो॒ वह॑न्त्वि॒ह पू॒र्वपी॑तये॒ सोम॑स्य पू॒र्वपी॑तये ।ऊ॒र्ध्वा ते॒ अनु॑ सू॒नृता॒ मन॑स्तिष्ठतु जान॒ती ।नि॒युत्व॑ता॒ रथे॒ना या॑हि दा॒वने॒ वायो॑ म॒खस्य॑ दा॒वने॑

हे वायु, वेग से दौड़ते हुए तुम्हारे घोड़े तुम्हें यहाँ हवि की ओर ले आएँ — सोम के पहले पान के लिए, सोम के पहले पान के लिए। तुम्हारे मन के पीछे-पीछे जानने वाली सूनृता (सत्य और प्रिय वाणी) ऊपर उठकर खड़ी हो; नियुत् घोड़ों वाले रथ से आओ, हे वायु, दान देने के लिए।

Vayu, let your swift, racing horses carry you here to the offering, to the first drink, the first drink of soma. Let our generosity stand upright beside you, knowing your mind. Come with your team-drawn chariot to give, Vayu, to give to the sacrifice.

मन्द॑न्तु त्वा म॒न्दिनो॑ वाय॒विन्द॑वोऽ॒स्मत्क्रा॒णासः॒ सुकृ॑ता अ॒भिद्य॑वो॒ गोभिः॑ क्रा॒णा अ॒भिद्य॑वः ।यद्ध॑ क्रा॒णा इ॒रध्यै॒ दक्षं॒ सच॑न्त ऊ॒तयः॑ ।स॒ध्री॒ची॒ना नि॒युतो॑ दा॒वने॒ धिय॒ उप॑ ब्रुवत ईं॒ धियः॑

हे वायु, हमारे द्वारा तैयार किए गए, भली-भाँति बनाए गए, दूध में मिलाए गए ये चमकते हुए मदकारी सोम-बिन्दु तुम्हें आनन्दित करें। जब क्रियाशील सहायताएँ बल का साथ देती हैं, तब सब एक ही ओर मुड़ी हुई नियुत् घोड़ियाँ दान के लिए (आती हैं) और स्तुतियाँ उससे प्रार्थना करती हैं।

वायु दो लाल घोड़े जोड़ता है, वायु दो अरुण घोड़े जोड़ता है — रथ के जूए में भार खींचने के लिए उन फुर्तीले, सबसे अच्छा भार ढोने वालों को जोतता है। जैसे प्रेमी सोई हुई स्त्री को जगाता है, वैसे पुरंधि को जगा दो; दोनों लोकों को प्रकाशित करो और कीर्ति के लिए उषाओं को चमका दो।

हे वायु, तुम्हारे लिए दूर (आकाश) में निर्मल उषाएँ अपने शुभ वस्त्र फैलाती हैं — अपनी किरणों में, नित नई चमकीली किरणों में। तुम्हारे लिए सदा दूध देने वाली धेनु सारी सम्पत्तियाँ दुह देती है; तुमने मरुतों को गर्भ से, द्युलोक के गर्भ से उत्पन्न किया।

For you the bright dawns, far away, spread out lovely garments in their homes, in their rays, brightly colored in their new rays. For you the cow that gives nectar milks out every good thing. You gave birth to the Maruts from the wombs, from the wombs of heaven.

तुभ्यं॑ शु॒क्रासः॒ शुच॑यस्तुर॒ण्यवो॒ मदे॑षू॒ग्रा इ॑षणन्त भु॒र्वण्य॒पामि॑षन्त भु॒र्वणि॑ ।त्वां त्सा॒री दस॑मानो॒ भग॑मीट्टे तक्व॒वीये॑ ।त्वं विश्व॑स्मा॒द्भुव॑नात्पासि॒ धर्म॑णासु॒र्या॑त्पासि॒ धर्म॑णा

हे वायु, तुम्हारे लिए ये स्वच्छ, चमकीले, तेज़ बहने वाले सोम-रस, मद में उग्र होकर, जल की हलचल में उमड़ते हुए दौड़ पड़ते हैं। घात लगाकर चलने वाला थका हुआ शिकारी शिकार की खोज में तुमसे भग (सौभाग्य) की याचना करता है; तुम अपने धर्म (नियम) से हर प्राणी से रक्षा करते हो, असुर-शक्ति से अपने नियम द्वारा रक्षा करते हो।

For you the shining, pure, eager ones, fierce in their intoxication, have rushed into the turmoil; they have sought the waters in the turmoil. The weary, stealthy one calls on you as Bhaga in the swift pursuit. By your nature you protect us from every creature; by your nature you protect us from the power of the Asuras.

त्वं नो॑ वायवेषा॒मपू॑र्व्यः॒ सोमा॑नां प्रथ॒मः पी॒तिम॑र्हसि सु॒तानां॑ पी॒तिम॑र्हसि ।उ॒तो वि॒हुत्म॑तीनां वि॒शां व॑व॒र्जुषी॑णाम् ।विश्वा॒ इत्ते॑ धे॒नवो॑ दुह्र आ॒शिरं॑ घृ॒तं दु॑ह्रत आ॒शिर॑म्

हे वायु, तुम अद्वितीय हो — हमारे इन निचोड़े हुए सोमों को सबसे पहले पीने के अधिकारी तुम्हीं हो। हवि देने वाली और (सोम) अर्पित करने वाली प्रजाओं के सोम के भी; तुम्हारे लिए सब धेनुएँ आशिर (मिलाने का दूध) दुहती हैं, घृत और आशिर दुहती हैं।

Vayu, unrivalled and first, you have the right to the drink of these somas of ours; you have the right to the drink of the pressed ones. You also have the right to the drink of the clans who call on you and have set their offerings aside for you. All the cows yield milk for you as a mixing draught; they yield ghee as a mixing draught.
