धान्य की समृद्धि के लिए प्रार्थनाPrayer for abundant grain

पयस्वतीर् ओषधयः पयस्वन् मामकं वचः ।अथो पयस्वतीनाम् आ भरे ऽहं सहस्रशः

औषधियाँ रस से भरी हैं, मेरा वचन रस से भरा है। और मैं इन रस-भरी (औषधियों) का (सार) हज़ारों गुना यहाँ लाता हूँ।

The plants are full of sap, and my speech is full of sap. And from these sap-filled plants I bring here (their sap), by the thousand.

वेदाहं पयस्वन्तं चकार धान्य᳙म् बहु ।संभ्ŕ̥त्वा नाम यो देवस् तं वयं हवामहे योयो अयज्वनो गृहे

मैं उसे जानता हूँ जिसने बहुत-सा धान्य रस से भरा बनाया। जिस देव का नाम 'संभृत्वा' (बटोरने वाला) है, उसे हम बुलाते हैं — (ताकि वह लाए) जो कुछ यज्ञ न करने वाले के घर में है।

I know the one who made abundant grain full of sap. We call the god whose name is Sambhṛtvan, the Gatherer, to bring whatever lies in the house of anyone who does not sacrifice.

इमा याः पञ्च प्रदिशो मानवीः पञ्च कृष्टयः ।वृष्टे शापं नदीर् इवेह स्फातिं समावहान्

ये जो पाँच दिशाएँ हैं और मनुष्यों की पाँच जातियाँ (कृष्टयः) हैं, वे यहाँ समृद्धि बहाकर लाएँ, जैसे वर्षा होने पर नदियाँ बहती लकड़ी-कचरा (मूल 'शाप' — यहाँ अर्थ बहता मलबा, अभिशाप नहीं) बहा लाती हैं।

May these five directions and the five peoples of humankind carry abundance here, as rivers after rain carry along driftwood.

उद् उत्सं शतधारं सहस्रधारम् अक्षितम् ।एवास्माकेदं धान्यं᳙ सहस्रधारम् अक्षितम्

सौ धाराओं वाला, हज़ार धाराओं वाला, कभी न घटने वाला सोता ऊपर उमड़ता है; वैसे ही हमारा यह धान्य हज़ार धाराओं वाला और अक्षय हो।

Up wells the spring of a hundred streams, a thousand streams, never failing; so may this grain of ours be of a thousand streams, never failing.

शतहस्त समाहर सहस्रहस्त सं किर ।कृतस्य कार्य᳙स्य चेह स्फातिं समावह

हे सौ हाथों वाले, बटोर ला; हे हज़ार हाथों वाले, ढेर लगा दे। जो (काम) हो चुका और जो करना है, उसकी समृद्धि यहाँ ले आ।

Hundred-handed one, gather in; thousand-handed one, heap it up. Bring here the abundance of what has been done and of what is still to be done.

तिस्रो मात्रा गन्धर्वाणां चतस्रो गृहपत्न्याः ।तासां या स्फातिमत्तमा तया त्वाभि मृशामसि

तीन मात्राएँ गन्धर्वों की हैं, चार गृहपत्नी की; उनमें जो सबसे अधिक समृद्धि वाली है, उससे हम तुम्हें छूते हैं।

Three measures belong to the Gandharvas, four to the mistress of the house; with the one of them richest in abundance we touch you.

उपोहश् च समूहश् च क्षत्तारौ ते प्रजापते ।ताव् इहा वहतां स्फातिं बहुं भूमानम् अक्षितम्

हे प्रजापति, उपोह (ढेर लगाने वाला) और समूह (बटोरने वाला) तुम्हारे दो बाँटने वाले सेवक हैं; वे दोनों यहाँ बहुत, भरपूर और अक्षय समृद्धि लाएँ।

Upoha and Samūha, Heaping and Gathering, are your two stewards, Prajāpati; may those two bring here abundance, much plenty that never fails.
