हाथी जैसे वर्चस् की प्रार्थनाPrayer for elephant-like splendour

हस्तिवर्चसं प्रथतां बृहद् यशो अदित्या यत् तन्वः᳙ संबभूव ।तत् सर्वे सम् अदुर् मह्यम् एतद् विश्वे देवा अदितिः सजोषाः

हाथी का वर्चस्, वह महान यश जो अदिति के शरीर से उत्पन्न हुआ, फैले। उसे सब विश्वेदेवों ने अदिति के साथ एकमत होकर मुझे दिया है।

Let the elephant's splendour spread, the great glory that came from Aditi's body. All the gods, together with Aditi and of one mind, have given it to me.

मित्रश् च वरुणश् चेन्द्रो रुद्रश् च चेततु ।देवासो विश्वधायसस् ते माञ्जन्तु वर्चसा

मित्र और वरुण, इन्द्र और रुद्र ध्यान दें। वे सबका पोषण करने वाले देव मुझे वर्चस् से अभिषिक्त करें।

May Mitra and Varuna, Indra and Rudra take notice. May those all-sustaining gods anoint me with splendour.

येन हस्ती वर्चसा संबभूव येन राजा मनुष्ये᳙स्व् अप्स्व् अ᳙न्तः ।येन देवा देवताम् अग्र आयन् तेन माम् अद्य वर्चसाग्ने वर्चस्विनं कृणु

जिस वर्चस् से हाथी बना, जिससे राजा मनुष्यों में और जलों के भीतर (श्रेष्ठ हुआ), जिससे देवों ने आरम्भ में देवत्व पाया, उसी वर्चस् से, हे अग्नि, आज मुझे वर्चस्वी बनाओ।

The splendour with which the elephant came into being, with which the king rose among men and within the waters, with which the gods first attained godhood — with that splendour, Agni, make me splendid today.

यत् ते वर्चो जातवेदो बृहद् भवत्य् आहुतेः ।यावत् सूर्यस्य वर्च आसुरस्य च हस्तिनः ।तावन् मे अश्विना वर्च आ धत्तां पुष्करस्रजा

हे जातवेदस्, आहुति से जो महान वर्चस् तुम्हें मिलता है, जितना वर्चस् सूर्य का और असुर-जैसे बलवान हाथी का है, उतना वर्चस् कमल की माला पहने अश्विन् मुझमें स्थापित करें।

The great splendour that comes to you from the offering, Jatavedas, as much splendour as the sun has and the mighty elephant — that much splendour may the lotus-garlanded Ashvins place in me.

यावच् चतस्रः प्रदिशश् चक्षुर् यावत् समश्नुते ।तावत् समैत्व् इन्द्रियं मयि तद् धस्तिवर्चसम्

जहाँ तक चारों दिशाएँ हैं, जहाँ तक आँख पहुँचती है, उतना वह बल, वह हाथी का वर्चस्, मुझमें आकर एकत्र हो।

As far as the four directions reach, as far as the eye can see, so much may that power, the elephant's splendour, gather in me.

हस्ती मृगाणां सुषदाम् अतिष्ठावान् बभूव हि ।तस्य भगेन वर्चसाभि षिञ्चामि माम् अहम्

हाथी सुख से बसने वाले पशुओं में सबसे श्रेष्ठ हुआ है। उसके सौभाग्य और वर्चस् से मैं स्वयं को अभिषिक्त करता हूँ।

The elephant has become the foremost of the comfortably dwelling beasts. With its fortune and splendour I anoint myself.
