अग्निः

आ य॒ज्ञैर्दे॑व॒ मर्त्य॑ इ॒त्था तव्यां॑समू॒तये॑ ।अ॒ग्निं कृ॒ते स्व॑ध्व॒रे पू॒रुरी॑ळी॒ताव॑से

हे देव, मरणधर्मा मनुष्य यज्ञों के द्वारा इस प्रकार तुम-जैसे अत्यन्त बलवान् को सहायता के लिए (बुलाता है); सुसम्पन्न यज्ञ के रचे जाने पर मनुष्य रक्षा पाने के लिए अग्नि की स्तुति करे।

O god, with sacrifices a mortal should call you, the mightier one, here to help us in this way. When the rite has been well prepared, Pūru should invoke Agni for aid.

अस्य॒ हि स्वय॑शस्तर आ॒सा वि॑धर्म॒न्मन्य॑से ।तं नाकं॑ चि॒त्रशो॑चिषं म॒न्द्रं प॒रो म॑नी॒षया॑

क्योंकि इसी (अग्नि) के मुख से, हे अधिक स्वयं-यशस्वी, तू विस्तृत आकाश में उस चित्र-ज्वाला वाले, आनन्ददायक और (दृष्टि से) परे रहने वाले स्वर्ग-शिखर को अपनी मनीषा के बल पर जान लेता है।

For you, who are glorious in your own right, are honoured through the mouth at the spreading-out of this one. Praise him, the vault of heaven with bright, many-coloured flame, the delightful one who is beyond our thought.

अ॒स्य वासा उ॑ अ॒र्चिषा॒ य आयु॑क्त तु॒जा गि॒रा ।दि॒वो न यस्य॒ रेत॑सा बृ॒हच्छोच॑न्त्य॒र्चयः॑

इसके वस्त्र-समान तेज और ज्वाला से — जो प्रेरक स्तुति के साथ जोड़ा गया है — जिसकी लपटें ऊपर को ऐसे धधकती हैं जैसे द्युलोक के रेतस् (वीर्य) से।

It is by this one's flame, which clothes him like a garment, that he shines, he who has been yoked by a driving hymn, whose rays blaze high as if with the seed of heaven.

अ॒स्य क्रत्वा॒ विचे॑तसो द॒स्मस्य॒ वसु॒ रथ॒ आ ।अधा॒ विश्वा॑सु॒ हव्योऽ॒ग्निर्वि॒क्षु प्र श॑स्यते

इस विवेकशील और अद्भुत कर्म करने वाले (अग्नि) की प्रज्ञा से धन रथ में (भर) आता है; और तब हव्य के योग्य अग्नि सब मनुष्य-जनों में प्रशंसित होता है।

Through the will of this discerning, wondrous one, wealth stands on his chariot. So Agni, who is to be invoked among all the clans, is praised.

नू न॒ इद्धि वार्य॑मा॒सा स॑चन्त सू॒रयः॑ ।ऊर्जो॑ नपाद॒भिष्ट॑ये पा॒हि श॒ग्धि स्व॒स्तय॑ उ॒तैधि॑ पृ॒त्सु नो॑ वृ॒धे

अब हमारे यजमान-स्तोता उसी (अग्नि) के मुख से वांछित धन अवश्य प्राप्त करें। हे बल के पुत्र, हमें ऊपर उठाने के लिए रक्षा कर, कल्याण के लिए समर्थ हो, और युद्धों में हमारी वृद्धि के लिए उपस्थित रह।

Now the patrons have, with their mouths, obtained for us what is worth choosing. Child of nourishment, protect us so that we may gain help, be strong for our well-being, and stand with us in battles to make us grow.
