अग्निः

बृ॒हद्वयो॒ हि भा॒नवेऽर्चा॑ दे॒वाया॒ग्नये॑ ।यं मि॒त्रं न प्रश॑स्तिभि॒र्मर्ता॑सो दधि॒रे पु॒रः

तेजस्वी देव अग्नि के लिए महान बल की स्तुति गाओ — जिसे मनुष्यों ने अपनी प्रशंसाओं से, मित्र की तरह, अपने आगे (अग्रणी रूप में) स्थापित किया है।

Sing lofty vigour to the radiant one, to the god Agni, whom mortals with their praises have set in front, like Mitra.

स हि द्युभि॒र्जना॑नां॒ होता॒ दक्ष॑स्य बा॒ह्वोः ।वि ह॒व्यम॒ग्निरा॑नु॒षग्भगो॒ न वार॑मृण्वति

वही अग्नि दिन-प्रतिदिन मनुष्यों का होता है, और कुशल (यजमान की) दोनों भुजाओं का भी; वह हव्य को क्रम से (देवताओं तक) पहुँचाता है, जैसे भग मनचाहा धन देता है।

For by his brilliance he is the hotar of the peoples, in the two arms of skill. Agni distributes the oblation in due order, as Bhaga distributes something desirable.

अ॒स्य स्तोमे॑ म॒घोनः॑ स॒ख्ये वृ॒द्धशो॑चिषः ।विश्वा॒ यस्मि॑न्तुवि॒ष्वणि॒ सम॒र्ये शुष्म॑माद॒धुः

इस दानी, ऊँची लपटों वाले अग्नि की स्तुति में और उसकी मित्रता में — जिस प्रचण्ड गर्जन करने वाले पर संग्राम के समय सब (जन) अपना बल-साहस रख देते हैं।

[We stand] in the praise and the friendship of this bounteous one, whose flame has grown strong, the loud-roaring one, in whom all have placed their strength, as in a contest.

अधा॒ ह्य॑ग्न एषां सु॒वीर्य॑स्य मं॒हना॑ ।तमिद्य॒ह्वं न रोद॑सी॒ परि॒ श्रवो॑ बभूवतुः

हे अग्नि, इन (स्तोताओं) के उत्तम वीर्य की उदारता से ही — उस महान अग्नि को दोनों लोक (द्यावा-पृथिवी) और यश चारों ओर से घेरे हुए हैं।

For now, Agni, [they stand] in the generosity of these [patrons] who have fine heroic strength. Heaven and earth have encircled him, as if he were a vigorous youth; they have encircled his fame.

नू न॒ एहि॒ वार्य॒मग्ने॑ गृणा॒न आ भ॑र ।ये व॒यं ये च॑ सू॒रयः॑ स्व॒स्ति धाम॑हे॒ सचो॒तैधि॑ पृ॒त्सु नो॑ वृ॒धे

हे अग्नि, अब हमारे पास आ; स्तुति किया जाकर मनचाहा धन ले आ। हम और हमारे यजमान (सूरि) — सब मिलकर कल्याण प्राप्त करें; और युद्धों में हमारी वृद्धि के लिए हमारे साथ रह।

Come to us now, Agni; as you are praised, bring us things worth choosing. We, and our patrons too, are seeking well-being: be with us, and stand by us in battles so that we may prosper.
