दधिक्राः

द॒धि॒क्राव्ण॒ इदु॒ नु च॑र्किराम॒ विश्वा॒ इन्मामु॒षसः॑ सूदयन्तु ।अ॒पाम॒ग्नेरु॒षसः॒ सूर्य॑स्य॒ बृह॒स्पते॑राङ्गिर॒सस्य॑ जि॒ष्णोः

हम दधिक्रावन् का ही बार-बार कीर्तन करें; सभी उषाएँ मुझे सरस और सफल बनाएँ। (हम स्मरण करें) जल, अग्नि, उषस्, सूर्य और विजयी आङ्गिरस बृहस्पति का।

Now let us celebrate Dadhikravan, and let all the dawns make things go well for me — [with our praise] of the Waters, of Agni, of Ushas, of Surya, of Brihaspati the Angirasa, the victorious.

सत्वा॑ भरि॒षो ग॑वि॒षो दु॑वन्य॒सच्छ्र॑व॒स्यादि॒ष उ॒षस॑स्तुरण्य॒सत् ।स॒त्यो द्र॒वो द्र॑व॒रः प॑तंग॒रो द॑धि॒क्रावेष॒मूर्जं॒ स्व॑र्जनत्

वह योद्धा है, लूट का धन चाहने वाला, गौओं का इच्छुक, सेवा-सत्कार में तत्पर, यश चाहने वाला, अन्न और उषाओं की ओर वेग से दौड़ने वाला; सच्चा धावक, तेज़ दौड़ने वाला, पक्षी-सा उड़ने वाला — वह दधिक्रा हमारे लिए अन्न, बल और सूर्य-प्रकाश उत्पन्न करे।

The warrior who wants to carry off prizes and wants cattle, who sits among those who serve, seeking fame — may he bring refreshment, sitting among the speeding ones of dawn. True, a runner, swift, devouring the flight, Dadhikravan will produce refreshment, strength, and sunlight.

उ॒त स्मा॑स्य॒ द्रव॑तस्तुरण्य॒तः प॒र्णं न वेरनु॑ वाति प्रग॒र्धिनः॑ ।श्ये॒नस्ये॑व॒ ध्रज॑तो अङ्क॒सं परि॑ दधि॒क्राव्णः॑ स॒होर्जा तरि॑त्रतः

और जब वह वेग से, आगे बढ़ने को उत्सुक होकर दौड़ता है, तब उसके पीछे हवा पक्षी के पंख की तरह बहती है — बल के साथ पार निकल जाने वाले दधिक्रावन् के पार्श्व के चारों ओर, झपट्टा मारते बाज़ के पंखों की तरह।

As he runs, hastening and straining ahead, [the wind] blows behind him like a bird's wing — around the curves of Dadhikravan's course as he rushes like a falcon, pressing across with strength and vigour.

उ॒त स्य वा॒जी क्षि॑प॒णिं तु॑रण्यति ग्री॒वायां॑ ब॒द्धो अ॑पिक॒क्ष आ॒सनि॑ ।क्रतुं॑ दधि॒क्रा अनु॑ सं॒तवी॑त्वत्प॒थामङ्कां॒स्यन्वा॒पनी॑फणत्

और वह वेगवान् घोड़ा चाबुक के संकेत पर दौड़ पड़ता है, गले में, कंधे के पास और मुँह में बँधा हुआ। दधिक्रा अपने उत्साह के अनुसार पूरा बल लगाता है और मार्गों के मोड़ों पर उछलता हुआ चलता है।

And this prize-winning horse races toward the throw, bound at the neck, at the flanks, and at the mouth. Gaining strength as he goes, Dadhikra follows his will and bounds along the curves of the paths.

हं॒सः शु॑चि॒षद्वसु॑रन्तरिक्ष॒सद्धोता॑ वेदि॒षदति॑थिर्दुरोण॒सत् ।नृ॒षद्व॑र॒सदृ॑त॒सद्व्यो॑म॒सद॒ब्जा गो॒जा ऋ॑त॒जा अ॑द्रि॒जा ऋ॒तम्

वह निर्मल तेज में बसने वाला हंस है, अन्तरिक्ष में बसने वाला वसु, वेदी पर बैठने वाला होता, घर में आने वाला अतिथि; मनुष्यों में बसने वाला, श्रेष्ठ स्थान में बसने वाला, ऋत में बसने वाला, आकाश में बसने वाला; जल से उत्पन्न, गौ से उत्पन्न, ऋत से उत्पन्न, पर्वत से उत्पन्न — वह स्वयं ऋत है।

The goose sitting in brightness, the good one sitting in the midspace, the hotar sitting at the altar, the guest sitting in the house; sitting among men, sitting in the best place, sitting in truth, sitting in the vault of heaven; born of the waters, born of cows, born of truth, born of the rock — he is truth.
