इन्द्रः

त्वा यु॒जा तव॒ तत्सो॑म स॒ख्य इन्द्रो॑ अ॒पो मन॑वे स॒स्रुत॑स्कः ।अह॒न्नहि॒मरि॑णात्स॒प्त सिन्धू॒नपा॑वृणो॒दपि॑हितेव॒ खानि॑

हे सोम! तुझे सहयोगी बनाकर, तेरी मित्रता में इन्द्र ने मनुष्य के लिए जल को बहता कर दिया। उसने अहि को मारा, सात नदियों को बहा दिया और ढके हुए छिद्रों की तरह [रुके हुए मार्गों को] खोल दिया।

With you as his ally, Soma, in that friendship of yours, Indra made the waters flow for Manu. He killed the serpent, released the seven rivers, and opened the outlets that had been as if shut.

त्वा यु॒जा नि खि॑द॒त्सूर्य॒स्येन्द्र॑श्च॒क्रं सह॑सा स॒द्य इ॑न्दो ।अधि॒ ष्णुना॑ बृह॒ता वर्त॑मानं म॒हो द्रु॒हो अप॑ वि॒श्वायु॑ धायि

हे इन्दु (सोम)! तुझे सहयोगी बनाकर इन्द्र ने उसी क्षण बल से सूर्य का वह चक्र नीचे खींच लिया, जो ऊँची पीठ पर घूम रहा था। महान द्रोही का सारा जीवन छीन लिया गया।

With you as his ally, Indu, Indra at once pressed down by force the wheel of the Sun as it rolled along the high summit. What gave life to all was taken from the great deceiver.

अह॒न्निन्द्रो॒ अद॑हद॒ग्निरि॑न्दो पु॒रा दस्यू॑न्म॒ध्यंदि॑नाद॒भीके॑ ।दु॒र्गे दु॑रो॒णे क्रत्वा॒ न या॒तां पु॒रू स॒हस्रा॒ शर्वा॒ नि ब॑र्हीत्

हे इन्दु! सम्मुख संग्राम में, दोपहर से पहले ही इन्द्र ने दस्युओं को मारा और अग्नि ने उन्हें जला दिया। दुर्गम निवास में जो मानो अपनी इच्छा से चल रहे थे, उन हज़ारों को उसने अपने बाण से गिरा दिया।

Indra struck down and Agni burned the Dasyus, Indu, before midday in the clash. As they went, as if willingly, to a hard-to-reach dwelling, Indra laid low many thousands with his arrow.

विश्व॑स्मात्सीमध॒माँ इ॑न्द्र॒ दस्यू॒न्विशो॒ दासी॑रकृणोरप्रश॒स्ताः ।अबा॑धेथा॒ममृ॑णतं॒ नि शत्रू॒नवि॑न्देथा॒मप॑चितिं॒ वध॑त्रैः

हे इन्द्र! तूने दस्युओं को सबसे नीचा कर दिया और दास प्रजाओं को कीर्तिहीन बना दिया। तुम दोनों ने शत्रुओं को खदेड़ा और नष्ट किया, और अपने घातक अस्त्रों से बदला चुकाया।

Indra, you made the Dasyus lower than all others, and the Dāsa clans without honour. You two pressed back and crushed the enemies, and with your weapons you took retribution.

ए॒वा स॒त्यं म॑घवाना यु॒वं तदिन्द्र॑श्च सोमो॒र्वमश्व्यं॒ गोः ।आद॑र्दृत॒मपि॑हिता॒न्यश्ना॑ रिरि॒चथुः॒ क्षाश्चि॑त्ततृदा॒ना

हे धनवान इन्द्र और सोम! तुम दोनों का वह कर्म सचमुच सत्य है — घोड़ों और गायों का विशाल बाड़ा [तुमने खोला]। पत्थर से ढके हुए स्थानों को तुमने तोड़ डाला और उन्हें भेदते हुए खाली कर दिया।

So this is true, you two bountiful ones, Indra and Soma: you burst the enclosure of horses and of cows, which had been shut in with stone. Boring through, you set free even the lands.
