अग्निः

अ॒यं सो अ॒ग्निर्यस्मि॒न्सोम॒मिन्द्रः॑ सु॒तं द॒धे ज॒ठरे॑ वावशा॒नः ।स॒ह॒स्रिणं॒ वाज॒मत्यं॒ न सप्तिं॑ सस॒वान्सन्स्तू॑यसे जातवेदः

यह वही अग्नि है, जिसमें इन्द्र ने उत्कण्ठा से भरकर निचोड़े हुए सोम को उदर में धारण किया। हे जातवेदस्, दौड़ते घोड़े की तरह सहस्रगुना बल जीत लेने वाले तुम स्तुति पाते हो।

This is the Agni in whom Indra, eager for it, took the pressed soma into his belly. Jatavedas, you are praised as one who has won a thousandfold prize, like a racehorse.

अग्ने॒ यत्ते॑ दि॒वि वर्चः॑ पृथि॒व्यां यदोष॑धीष्व॒प्स्वा य॑जत्र ।येना॒न्तरि॑क्षमु॒र्वा॑त॒तन्थ॑ त्वे॒षः स भा॒नुर॑र्ण॒वो नृ॒चक्षाः॑

हे यजन के योग्य अग्नि, तुम्हारा जो तेज द्युलोक में है, जो पृथ्वी पर, जो ओषधियों और जलों में है, और जिससे तुमने विस्तृत अन्तरिक्ष को फैला दिया है — वह तेज चमकता हुआ, लहराता हुआ और मनुष्यों को देखने वाला प्रकाश है।

Agni, worthy of worship, your splendour that is in heaven, on earth, in the plants and in the waters, by which you have spread out the wide midspace, is a blazing light, a surging flood that watches over men.

अग्ने॑ दि॒वो अर्ण॒मच्छा॑ जिगा॒स्यच्छा॑ दे॒वाँ ऊ॑चिषे॒ धिष्ण्या॒ ये ।या रो॑च॒ने प॒रस्ता॒त्सूर्य॑स्य॒ याश्चा॒वस्ता॑दुप॒तिष्ठ॑न्त॒ आपः॑

हे अग्नि, तुम द्युलोक के जलप्रवाह की ओर जाते हो और उन देवों को बुलाते हो जो धिष्ण्य हैं; तथा उन जलों को, जो सूर्य के उस पार के प्रकाशलोक में हैं और जो इस ओर नीचे ठहरे हुए हैं।

Agni, you go to the flood of heaven; you have addressed the gods who are the Dhishnyas, and the waters that are in the bright realm beyond the sun and those that wait below.

पु॒री॒ष्या॑सो अ॒ग्नयः॑ प्राव॒णेभिः॑ स॒जोष॑सः ।जु॒षन्तां॑ य॒ज्ञम॒द्रुहोऽ॑नमी॒वा इषो॑ म॒हीः

पुरीष (वेदी की बिछाई हुई मिट्टी) में स्थित अग्नियाँ, ढलानों की अग्नियों के साथ मिलकर प्रसन्न हों; वे छलरहित अग्नियाँ इस यज्ञ को स्वीकार करें और रोगरहित महान् अन्न-पुष्टि दें।

May the fires of the loose earth, in harmony with those on the slopes, enjoy the sacrifice without deceit, and may they bring great refreshments free from sickness.

इळा॑मग्ने पुरु॒दंसं॑ स॒निं गोः श॑श्वत्त॒मं हव॑मानाय साध ।स्यान्नः॑ सू॒नुस्तन॑यो वि॒जावाग्ने॒ सा ते॑ सुम॒तिर्भू॑त्व॒स्मे

हे अग्नि, तुम्हें बुलाने वाले के लिए इळा (पोषक अन्न), बहुत प्रकार का लाभ और गौओं का सदा बना रहने वाला धन सिद्ध करो। हमारे यहाँ वंश बढ़ाने वाला पुत्र-सन्तान हो; हे अग्नि, तुम्हारी वह कृपादृष्टि हम पर रहे।

Agni, make Ila, the nourishment of many wonders, a lasting gain of cattle, succeed for the one who calls on you. Let a son be born to us, offspring who carries on the line; Agni, may this favour of yours be with us.
