मित्रावरुणौ

यजा॑महे वां म॒हः स॒जोषा॑ ह॒व्येभि॑र्मित्रावरुणा॒ नमो॑भिः ।घृ॒तैर्घृ॑तस्नू॒ अध॒ यद्वा॑म॒स्मे अ॑ध्व॒र्यवो॒ न धी॒तिभि॒र्भर॑न्ति

हे मित्र और वरुण, हम एक साथ मिलकर हविष्यों और नमस्कारों से तुम दोनों महान देवों की पूजा करते हैं। हे घी टपकाने वालो, घी की आहुतियों से — जब हमारे यहाँ अध्वर्यु मानो अपनी स्तुतियों के साथ तुम्हारे लिए हवि ले आते हैं।

Mitra and Varuna, we worship you, the great ones, all of one mind, with oblations and with bows of reverence. You are dripping with ghee, and we worship you with ghee, when our men bring it to you here, like adhvaryus, with their inspired thoughts.

प्रस्तु॑तिर्वां॒ धाम॒ न प्रयु॑क्ति॒रया॑मि मित्रावरुणा सुवृ॒क्तिः ।अ॒नक्ति॒ यद्वां॑ वि॒दथे॑षु॒ होता॑ सु॒म्नं वां॑ सू॒रिर्वृ॑षणा॒विय॑क्षन्

हे मित्र और वरुण, तुम्हारे लिए स्तुति प्रस्तुत की गई है, मानो (रथ में) जोता हुआ जोड़ा हो; तुम्हें यह सुंदर स्तोत्र अर्पित हुआ है। हे वृषभो, जब यज्ञ-सभाओं में होता तुम्हें (घी से) अभिषिक्त करता है, तब यजमान तुम्हारी कृपा चाहता हुआ यज्ञ करता है।

Mitra and Varuna, a praise-hymn has been held out to you like an ordinance, a well-crafted hymn offered as a yoking, when the hotar anoints you at the rites and the patron seeks to win your favour, you bulls.

पी॒पाय॑ धे॒नुरदि॑तिरृ॒ताय॒ जना॑य मित्रावरुणा हवि॒र्दे ।हि॒नोति॒ यद्वां॑ वि॒दथे॑ सप॒र्यन्स रा॒तह॑व्यो॒ मानु॑षो॒ न होता॑

हे मित्र और वरुण, ऋत का पालन करने वाले और हवि देने वाले जन के लिए अदिति रूपी धेनु दूध से भर गई है — जब यज्ञ-सभा में तुम्हारी सेवा करता हुआ वह (स्तुति) भेजता है, वह हवि-दाता, मानो मनुष्यों का होता हो।

Mitra and Varuna, the milk-cow Aditi has swelled with milk for the truthful man who gives oblations, when he honours you at the rite and urges you on, like a human hotar who has offered the oblation.

उ॒त वां॑ वि॒क्षु मद्या॒स्वन्धो॒ गाव॒ आप॑श्च पीपयन्त दे॒वीः ।उ॒तो नो॑ अ॒स्य पू॒र्व्यः पति॒र्दन्वी॒तं पा॒तं पय॑स उ॒स्रिया॑याः

और उल्लासमयी प्रजाओं में सोमरस, गौएँ तथा दिव्य जल तुम दोनों के लिए पुष्ट हुए हैं। हमारे इस (सोम) का प्राचीन स्वामी घर में है — तुम दोनों उस्रिया गौ के दूध का सेवन करो, उसे पियो।

And among the clans that delight in it, the cows and the divine waters have swelled the soma-juice for you. And our ancient master of the house is here as well: come and enjoy it, and drink the milk of the ruddy cow.
