युद्ध-दुन्दुभि का आह्वानInvocation of the war drum

उप श्वासय पृथिवीम् उत द्यं पुरुत्रा ते वन्वतां विष्ठितम् जगत् ।स दुन्दुभे सजूर् इन्द्रेण देवैर् दूराद् दवीयो अप सेध शत्रून्

हे दुन्दुभि, पृथ्वी और आकाश को अपने नाद से भर दे; अनेक स्थानों में फैला हुआ जगत् तुझे माने। इन्द्र और देवों के साथ मिलकर तू शत्रुओं को दूर से भी दूर भगा दे।

Fill earth and heaven with your roar; let the world, spread out in many places, give heed to you. Joined with Indra and the gods, O drum, drive the enemies away, farther than far.

आ क्रन्दय बलम् ओजो न आ धा अभि ष्टन दुरिता बाधमानः ।अप सेध दुन्दुभे दुछुनाम् इत इन्द्रस्य मुष्टिर् असि वीडयस्व

गरज, हममें बल और ओज भर; विपत्तियों को रोकते हुए उनकी ओर गर्जन कर। हे दुन्दुभि, दुर्भाग्य को यहाँ से दूर भगा; तू इन्द्र की मुट्ठी है, दृढ़ हो।

Roar out, put strength and vigour into us; thunder against misfortunes and push them back. Drive ill luck away from here, O drum; you are Indra's fist, so stand firm.

प्रामूं जयाभीमे जयन्तु केतुमद् दुन्दुभिर् वावदीतु ।सम् अश्वपर्णाः पतन्तु नो नरो ऽस्माकम् इन्द्र रथिनो जयन्तु

उस (शत्रु-सेना) को जीत; ये (हमारे लोग) जीतें; दुन्दुभि संकेत की तरह ज़ोर से बजे। हमारे घोड़ों के पंखों वाले वीर एक साथ झपटें; हे इन्द्र, हमारे रथी विजयी हों।

Conquer that army there; let these here win. Let the drum sound loudly, as a signal. Let our men, winged with horses, swoop together; let our chariot-fighters win, Indra.
