अग्नि की स्तुतिChoosing Agni as messenger

अग्निं दूतं वृणीमहे होतारं विश्ववेदसम् ।अस्य यज्ञस्य सुक्रतुम्

हम अग्नि को दूत चुनते हैं, जो होता (देवताओं का आवाहन करने वाला पुरोहित) है, सब कुछ जानने वाला है और इस यज्ञ को भली-भाँति पूरा करने वाला है।

We choose Agni as our messenger, the hotar (invoking priest) who knows all things, the skilled performer of this sacrifice.

अग्निमग्निं हवीमभिः सदा हवन्त विश्पतिम् ।हव्यवाहं पुरुप्रियम्

लोग अपने आवाहनों से सदा अग्नि को, बार-बार अग्नि को ही पुकारते हैं, जो प्रजाओं का स्वामी, हवि को ले जाने वाला और बहुतों का प्रिय है।

With their invocations people always call on Agni, Agni again and again, the lord of the clans, the bearer of offerings, dear to many.

अग्ने देवाꣳ इहा वह जज्ञानो वृक्तबर्हिषे ।असि होता न ईड्यः

हे अग्नि, जन्म लेते ही, जिसने बर्हि (कुश) बिछाई है उस यजमान के लिए देवताओं को यहाँ ले आओ। तुम हमारे होता (आवाहक पुरोहित) हो, स्तुति के योग्य हो।

Agni, as soon as you are born, bring the gods here for the man who has spread the sacred grass. You are our hotar (invoking priest), worthy of praise.
