तस्मै प्राच्या दिशो अन्तर्देशाद् भवम् इष्वासम् अनुष्ठातारम् अकुर्वन् ।[१] भव एनम् इष्वासः प्राच्या दिशो अन्तर्देशाद् अनुष्ठातानु तिष्ठति नैनं शर्वो न भवो नेशानो नास्य पशून् न समानान् हिनस्ति य एवं वेद ॥१॥ [२-३]

उस (व्रात्य) के लिए उन्होंने पूर्व दिशा के अन्तर्देश से धनुर्धारी भव को अनुचर बनाया। धनुर्धारी भव पूर्व दिशा के अन्तर्देश से अनुचर बनकर उसके पीछे चलता है; जो ऐसा जानता है, उसे, उसके पशुओं को और उसके बराबर वालों को न शर्व मारता है, न भव, न ईशान।

For him, from the intermediate region of the eastern quarter, they made Bhava the archer an attendant. Bhava the archer follows him as attendant from the intermediate region of the eastern quarter; whoever knows this, neither Sharva nor Bhava nor Ishana harms him, nor his cattle, nor his equals.

तस्मै दक्षिणाया दिशो अन्तर्देशाच् छर्वम् इष्वासम् अनुष्ठातारम् अकुर्वन् ।[४] शर्व एनम् इश्वासो दक्षिणाया दिशो अन्तर्देशाद् अनुष्ठातानु तिष्ठति नैनं शर्वो न भवो नेशानो नास्य पशून् न समानान् हिनस्ति य एवं वेद ॥२॥ [५]

उसके लिए उन्होंने दक्षिण दिशा के अन्तर्देश से धनुर्धारी शर्व को अनुचर बनाया। धनुर्धारी शर्व दक्षिण दिशा के अन्तर्देश से अनुचर बनकर उसके पीछे चलता है; जो ऐसा जानता है, उसे, उसके पशुओं को और उसके बराबर वालों को न शर्व मारता है, न भव, न ईशान।

For him, from the intermediate region of the southern quarter, they made Sharva the archer an attendant. Sharva the archer follows him as attendant from the intermediate region of the southern quarter; whoever knows this, neither Sharva nor Bhava nor Ishana harms him, nor his cattle, nor his equals.

तस्मै प्रतीच्या दिशो अन्तर्देशात् पशुपतिम् इष्वासम् अनुष्ठातारम् अकुर्वन् ।[६] पशुपतिर् एनम् इष्वासः प्रतीच्या दिशो अन्तर्देशाद् अनुष्ठातानु तिष्ठति नैनं शर्वो न भवो नेशानो नास्य पशून् न समानान् हिनस्ति य एवं वेद ॥३॥ [७]

उसके लिए उन्होंने पश्चिम दिशा के अन्तर्देश से धनुर्धारी पशुपति को अनुचर बनाया। धनुर्धारी पशुपति पश्चिम दिशा के अन्तर्देश से अनुचर बनकर उसके पीछे चलता है; जो ऐसा जानता है, उसे, उसके पशुओं को और उसके बराबर वालों को न शर्व मारता है, न भव, न ईशान।

For him, from the intermediate region of the western quarter, they made Pashupati the archer an attendant. Pashupati the archer follows him as attendant from the intermediate region of the western quarter; whoever knows this, neither Sharva nor Bhava nor Ishana harms him, nor his cattle, nor his equals.

तस्मा उदीच्या दिशो अन्तर्देशाद् उग्रं देवम् इष्वासम् अनुष्ठातारम् अकुर्वन् ।[८] उग्र एनं देव इष्वास उदीच्या दिशो अन्तर्देशाद् अनुष्ठातानु तिष्ठति नैनं शर्वो न भवो नेशानो नास्य पशून् न समानान् हिनस्ति य एवं वेद ॥४॥ [९]

उसके लिए उन्होंने उत्तर दिशा के अन्तर्देश से धनुर्धारी उग्र देव को अनुचर बनाया। धनुर्धारी उग्र देव उत्तर दिशा के अन्तर्देश से अनुचर बनकर उसके पीछे चलता है; जो ऐसा जानता है, उसे, उसके पशुओं को और उसके बराबर वालों को न शर्व मारता है, न भव, न ईशान।

For him, from the intermediate region of the northern quarter, they made the fierce god, the archer, an attendant. The fierce god, the archer, follows him as attendant from the intermediate region of the northern quarter; whoever knows this, neither Sharva nor Bhava nor Ishana harms him, nor his cattle, nor his equals.

तस्मै ध्रुवाया दिशो अन्तर्देशाद् रुद्रम् इष्वासम् अनुष्ठातारम् अकुर्वन् ।[१०] रुद्र एनम् इष्वासो ध्रुवाया दिशो अन्तर्देशाद् अनुष्ठातानु तिष्ठति नैनं शर्वो न भवो नेशानो नास्य पशून् न समानान् हिनस्ति य एवं वेद ॥५॥ [११]

उसके लिए उन्होंने ध्रुव (नीचे की स्थिर) दिशा के अन्तर्देश से धनुर्धारी रुद्र को अनुचर बनाया। धनुर्धारी रुद्र ध्रुव दिशा के अन्तर्देश से अनुचर बनकर उसके पीछे चलता है; जो ऐसा जानता है, उसे, उसके पशुओं को और उसके बराबर वालों को न शर्व मारता है, न भव, न ईशान।

For him, from the intermediate region of the fixed quarter, they made Rudra the archer an attendant. Rudra the archer follows him as attendant from the intermediate region of the fixed quarter; whoever knows this, neither Sharva nor Bhava nor Ishana harms him, nor his cattle, nor his equals.

तस्मा ऊर्ध्वाया दिशो अन्तर्देशान् महादेवम् इष्वासम् अनुष्ठातारम् अकुर्वन् ।[१२] महादेव एनम् इष्वास ऊर्ध्वाया दिशो अन्तर्देशाद् अनुष्ठातानु तिष्ठति नैनं शर्वो न भवो नेशानो नास्य पशून् न समानान् हिनस्ति य एवं वेद ॥६॥ [१३]

उसके लिए उन्होंने ऊर्ध्व (ऊपर की) दिशा के अन्तर्देश से धनुर्धारी महादेव को अनुचर बनाया। धनुर्धारी महादेव ऊर्ध्व दिशा के अन्तर्देश से अनुचर बनकर उसके पीछे चलता है; जो ऐसा जानता है, उसे, उसके पशुओं को और उसके बराबर वालों को न शर्व मारता है, न भव, न ईशान।

For him, from the intermediate region of the upward quarter, they made Mahadeva the archer an attendant. Mahadeva the archer follows him as attendant from the intermediate region of the upward quarter; whoever knows this, neither Sharva nor Bhava nor Ishana harms him, nor his cattle, nor his equals.

तस्मै सर्वेभ्यो अन्तर्देशेभ्य ईशानम् इष्वासम् अनुष्ठातारम् अकुर्वन् ।[१४] ईशान एनम् इष्वासः सर्वेभ्यो अन्तर्देशेभ्यो ऽनुष्ठातानु तिष्ठति नैनं शर्वो न भवो नेशानो नास्य पशून् न समानान् हिनस्ति य एवं वेद ॥७॥ [१५-१६]

उसके लिए उन्होंने सभी अन्तर्देशों से धनुर्धारी ईशान को अनुचर बनाया। धनुर्धारी ईशान सभी अन्तर्देशों से अनुचर बनकर उसके पीछे चलता है; जो ऐसा जानता है, उसे, उसके पशुओं को और उसके बराबर वालों को न शर्व मारता है, न भव, न ईशान।

For him, from all the intermediate regions, they made Ishana the archer an attendant. Ishana the archer follows him as attendant from all the intermediate regions; whoever knows this, neither Sharva nor Bhava nor Ishana harms him, nor his cattle, nor his equals.
