अग्निहोत्र में व्रात्य की अनुमतिThe Vratya's permission for the agnihotra

तद् यस्यैवं विद्वान् व्रात्य उद्धृतेष्व् अग्निष्व् अधिश्रिते ऽग्निहोत्रे ऽतिथिर् गृहान् आगछेत्

तो, जिसके घर ऐसा जानने वाला व्रात्य अतिथि बनकर तब आए, जब अग्नियाँ उठाकर रख दी गई हों और अग्निहोत्र का द्रव्य आग पर चढ़ा दिया गया हो—

Now, if a Vratya who knows this comes as a guest to someone's house when the fires have been taken up and the agnihotra offering has been set on the fire—

स्वयम् एनम् अभ्युदेत्य ब्रूयाद् व्रात्याति सृज होष्यामीति

तो वह स्वयं उठकर उसके पास जाए और कहे: 'व्रात्य, अनुमति दो, मैं आहुति दूँगा।'

he should himself rise, go to him and say: 'Vratya, give me leave; I will make the offering.'

स चातिसृजेज् जुहुयान् न चातिसृजेन् न जुहुयात्

यदि वह अनुमति दे तो आहुति दे; यदि अनुमति न दे तो आहुति न दे।

If he gives leave, he should offer; if he does not give leave, he should not offer.

स य एवं विदुषा व्रात्येनातिसृष्टो जुहोति

जो ऐसा जानने वाले व्रात्य की अनुमति पाकर आहुति देता है,

He who makes the offering with the leave of a Vratya who knows this

प्र पितृयाणं पन्थां जानाति प्र देवयानम्

वह पितरों के जाने के मार्ग (पितृयाण) को और देवों के जाने के मार्ग (देवयान) को भली-भाँति जानता है।

knows well the path the fathers travel and the path the gods travel.

न देवेष्व् आ वृश्चते हुतम् अस्य भवति

वह देवताओं के प्रति अपराध नहीं करता; उसकी आहुति सचमुच दी हुई होती है।

He does not give offence among the gods; his offering counts as truly offered.

पर्य् अस्यास्मिंल् लोक आयतनं शिष्यते य एवं विदुषा व्रात्येनातिसृष्टो जुहोति

जो ऐसा जानने वाले व्रात्य की अनुमति पाकर आहुति देता है, उसका ठिकाना इस लोक में बचा रहता है।

An abode remains for him in this world, the one who offers with the leave of a Vratya who knows this.

अथ य एवं विदुषा व्रात्येनानतिसृष्टो जुहोति

परन्तु जो ऐसा जानने वाले व्रात्य की अनुमति के बिना आहुति देता है,

But he who makes the offering without the leave of a Vratya who knows this

न पितृयाणं पन्थां जानाति न देवयानम्

वह न पितृयाण मार्ग को जानता है, न देवयान को।

knows neither the path of the fathers nor the path of the gods.

आ देवेषु वृश्चते अहुतम् अस्य भवति

वह देवताओं के प्रति अपराध करता है; उसकी आहुति बिना दी हुई (निष्फल) हो जाती है।

He gives offence among the gods; his offering counts as not offered.

नास्यास्मिंल् लोक आयतनं शिष्यते य एवं विदुषा व्रात्येनानतिसृष्टो जुहोति

जो ऐसा जानने वाले व्रात्य की अनुमति के बिना आहुति देता है, उसका ठिकाना इस लोक में नहीं बचता।

No abode remains for him in this world, the one who offers without the leave of a Vratya who knows this.
