(To the chariot:) You are Indra's Vritra-slaying vajra; with you may this man slay Vritra. By the direction of Mitra and Varuna, the two directors, I yoke you with the yoking of the yajna. You are Vishnu's step, Vishnu's stride, Vishnu's wide stride; by the impulse of the Maruts I have won, the mind has attained its aim, I am joined with power and vigour. You are the fury of the cattle; may my fury be like yours. Homage to mother Earth: may I not harm mother Earth, may mother Earth not harm me. You are this much; you are life, give me life; you are nourishing strength, give me strength; you are the yoker; you are splendour, put splendour in me. To Agni, lord of the house, svaha; to Soma, lord of the forest, svaha; to Indra's strength, svaha; to the Maruts' might, svaha. The swan seated in brightness, the Vasu seated in mid-air, the hotar seated at the altar, the guest seated in the house; seated among men, seated in the highest, seated in truth, seated in the sky; born of the waters, born of cows, born of truth, born of the rock — the great truth.
