१अत्य॒न्यानगां॒ नान्यानुपा॑गाम॒र्वाक्त्वा॒ परै॑रविदं प॒रोऽव॑रै॒स्तं त्वा॑ जुषे वैष्ण॒वं दे॑वय॒ज्यायै॑ दे॒वस्त्वा॑ सवि॒ता मध्वाऽ॑न॒क्त्वोष॑धे॒ त्राय॑स्वैन॒ग्ग्॒ स्वधि॑ते॒ मैनं॑ हिंसी॒र्दिव॒मग्रे॑ण॒ मा ले॑खीर॒न्तरि॑क्षं॒ मध्ये॑न॒ मा हिं॑सीः पृथि॒व्या सं भ॑व॒ वन॑स्पते श॒तव॑ल्शो॒ वि रो॑ह स॒हस्र॑वल्शा॒ वि व॒यं रु॑हेम॒ यं त्वाऽ॒यग्ग् स्वधि॑ति॒स्तेति॑जानः प्रणि॒नाय॑ मह॒ते सौभ॑गा॒याऽच्छि॑न्नो॒ रायः॑ सु॒वीरः॑ ॥ यं दश॑ च
मैं दूसरे वृक्षों को छोड़कर आगे बढ़ा, दूसरों के पास नहीं गया; मैंने तुम्हें दूर वालों से पास और पास वालों से दूर पाया। विष्णु के तुम्हें मैं देवताओं के यज्ञ के लिए स्वीकार करता हूँ; देव सविता तुम्हें मधु से लेपें। हे ओषधि (वृक्ष पर रखी कुशा), इसकी रक्षा करो; हे कुल्हाड़ी, इसे चोट न पहुँचाओ। (अब गिरते वृक्ष से:) अपने सिरे से द्युलोक को न खरोंचो, बीच के भाग से अन्तरिक्ष को चोट न पहुँचाओ, पृथ्वी से मिल जाओ। (अब ठूँठ से:) हे वनस्पति, सौ अंकुरों के साथ फिर उगो; हम हज़ार अंकुरों के साथ बढ़ें। तुम्हें, जिसे इस तीखी कुल्हाड़ी ने बड़े सौभाग्य के लिए आगे बढ़ाया है — अटूट धन, अच्छे वीरों वाला।
I have passed the others by and gone to none of them; I found you nearer than the far ones and farther than the near ones. I take you, Vishnu's own, for the worship of the gods; may the god Savitar anoint you with honey. Plant (the grass blade laid on the tree), protect it; axe, do not harm it. (Now to the falling tree:) Do not scrape the sky with your top or harm the atmosphere with your middle; join with the earth. (Now to the stump:) Lord of the forest, grow again with a hundred shoots; may we grow with a thousand. You, whom this sharp axe has brought forward for great good fortune — unbroken wealth, rich in heroes.
