वह ब्रह्मन् (पुरोहित) के घर बृहस्पति को चरु देता है, दक्षिणा सफ़ेद पीठ वाला बैल; राजन्य के घर इन्द्र को ग्यारह कपाल का पुरोडाश, दक्षिणा बैल; महिषी के घर अदिति को चरु, दक्षिणा दुधारू गाय; परिवृक्ती (त्यागी गई रानी) के घर निरृति को नाख़ूनों से छीले काले धान का चरु, दक्षिणा काली बिना सींग की गाय; सेनानी के घर अग्नि को आठ कपाल, दक्षिणा सोना; सूत के घर वरुण को दस कपाल, दक्षिणा बड़ा बधिया बैल; ग्रामणी के घर मरुतों को सात कपाल, दक्षिणा चितकबरी गाय; क्षत्ता के घर सवितृ को बारह कपाल, दक्षिणा धूमिल रंग का पशु; संग्रहीता (सारथी) के घर अश्विनों को दो कपाल, दक्षिणा एक साथ जन्मे दो बछड़े; भागदुघ के घर पूषन् को चरु, दक्षिणा साँवला पशु; अक्षावाप के घर रुद्र को गवेधुका का चरु, दक्षिणा चितकबरा 'उद्वार'। इसके बदले वह इन्द्र सुत्रामन् और इन्द्र अंहोमुच् को ग्यारह कपाल का पुरोडाश देता है, इस भाव से कि 'यह हमारा राजा वृत्रहा है, राजा बनकर वृत्र को मारे'। फिर मित्र और बृहस्पति की हवि होती है: सफ़ेद बछड़े वाली सफ़ेद गाय के दूध में, अपने-आप जमे और अपने-आप मथे घी में, अपने-आप गिरी डाल से बने चौकोर अश्वत्थ-पात्र में; चावलों को नोक वाले और बिना नोक वाले में अलग करे — नोक वाले दूध में बृहस्पति के लिए, बिना नोक वाले घी में मित्र के लिए। वेदी अपने-आप बनी हो, बर्हि अपने-आप कटी हो, समिधा अपने-आप बनी हो, और वही सफ़ेद बछड़े वाली सफ़ेद गाय दक्षिणा है।
He offers a pot of rice (caru) to Brihaspati in the house of the brahman (the purohita), the fee being a white-backed bull; to Indra a cake on eleven potsherds in the house of the rajanya, the fee a bull; a caru to Aditi in the house of the chief queen, the fee a milch cow; a caru to Nirriti in the house of the rejected queen, of black rice husked with the fingernails, the fee a black hornless cow; to Agni on eight potsherds in the house of the army leader, the fee gold; to Varuna on ten potsherds in the house of the suta, the fee a large castrated bull; to the Maruts on seven potsherds in the house of the village headman, the fee a dappled cow; to Savitar on twelve potsherds in the house of the kshattar, the fee a dusky-coloured animal; to the Ashvins on two potsherds in the house of the charioteer, the fee two calves born together; a caru to Pushan in the house of the bhagadugha, the fee a dark animal; a caru of gavedhuka grass-seed to Rudra in the house of the keeper of the dice, the fee a spotted 'udvara'. In return he offers a cake on eleven potsherds to Indra the good protector and to Indra the releaser from distress, so that 'this our king, slayer of Vritra, having become king, may slay Vritra.' Then comes the offering to Mitra and Brihaspati: in the milk of a white cow with a white calf, in ghee that has curdled and churned by itself, in a four-cornered vessel of ashvattha wood from a branch that fell of its own accord; he should sort the rice grains into those with tips and those without — the tipped ones, in milk, go to Brihaspati, the tipless ones, in ghee, to Mitra; the altar is self-formed, the barhis grass self-cut, the firewood self-made, and that same white cow with the white calf is the fee.
